Main body

Firstly, all the members should fulfill the assignments in such a way that the instructor can assess their real academic performance. Honesty and the ability to ask the right questions to accomplish the task better are the traits that any student should share. As a part of the community, I realize that plagiarism, deception, and irresponsibility undermine the shared values of the college. Furthermore, they affect the reputation of the college and slow down the potential progress of scholars, making their academic environment less reliable and inspiring.

Secondly, all the students are to realize the real meaning of interdependence. Students rely on professors, whose competence is not questioned. Finally, the scholars will become specialists on whom other people will depend. One will feel extremely tedious in the community of cheating doctors, firefighters, pilots, and lawyers. In the world of interconnection, neglect of one’s duties and egoism can lead to unprecedented tragedies. The unfair advantage over other students or disrespect for surrounding specialists is the two sides of one medal. Being dishonest in their studies, one gets used to being dishonest in their communities.

Thirdly, it is crucial to understand what particular actions result in academic integrity failure at Foothill College. Plagiarism and cheating are the most common failures that interfere with one’s progress. They include using the work of other people, submitting work that was written for another course, referring to non-credible sources, and using unauthorized materials during the examination. In addition to this, allowing another student to copy from your work is another kind of fraud. As a student, I am responsible not only for my work but also for the influence of my actions on other students’ academic performance. Together we form the environment that develops contributes to the other scholars’ success, self-dependence, and competence.

Lastly, telling lies to the instructors, getting the test before it officially starts, or collaborating on the assignment in an inappropriate way must be the things to avoid. Cheating is not only about stealing someone’s work and disrespecting another person’s achievements. It is significantly important for me to ask the right questions at the right time to figure out what is inappropriate in the community. I realize that by not asking these questions, I might face problems. Consequences depend on the type of failure and include lower assignment grades, disciplinary probation, temporary suspension, or expulsion.

Conclusion

To summarize, as a student, I understand that the culture of academic integrity implies the responsibility for my works and the actions affecting other students’ academic performance. Creating an inspiring environment that enhances progress should be the goal of every student. The reputation of the scholar community depends on the efforts of the learner, staff, and administration. The community members are to think of their success as part of a broader mission, in which we are all involved.
