Career Goals and Company Profile

Personal Career Objectives

I am planning to work as a Biomedical Researcher (BR) after completing my degree. The targeted company is Immunobiology Limited (ImmBio). This ‘company develops a wide range of vaccines to deal with various diseases and infections’ (ImmunoBiology 2014, par. 2). I have identified several career objectives and goals. My first objective is to develop new competencies that can make me an experienced Biomedical Researcher (Johnson & Scott 2009). I also want to equip myself with new bio-scientific concepts and skills. My career goal is to become a key play in the biomedical field. I will use every available resource to achieve my objectives.

Company Profile

My targeted company is a leading player in the United Kingdom’s Biotechnology Industry. The industry ‘produces different medical types of equipment, medicines, vaccines, and health services’ (ImmunoBiology 2014, par. 7). The government sponsors many companies in this industry. Some organizations collaborate with various educational institutions to achieve their goals (Johnson & Scott 2009). For instance, ‘ImmBio has been working with different institutions such as Cambridge University, United Kingdom National Institute for Biological Standards & Control, and the University of Surrey’ (ImmunoBiology 2014, par. 5). The company produces different vaccines for various diseases. It also offers quality medical services to many people across the globe. The company also treats meningococcal disease. The organization targets vulnerable populations in different parts of the world. ImmBio also works with several governments to produce the best vaccines.

Informational Interview

My interviewee for this exercise was John White. John is a researcher and senior biotechnologist at ImmBio. John collaborates with different stakeholders to identify the best opportunities for ImmBio. John failed to provide his contacts during the interview. The exercise highlighted the roles of different employees at the company. The respondent was ready to answer my questions. The statement sent by John is as follows:

Hello,

Thanks a lot for your interest in our company. I am ready to answer your questions. I will inform you about the roles of different employees at ImmBio. I will be available from 3.30 pm. Please prepare yourself in advance. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours,

John White

The interviewee professionally answered my questions. I prepared these questions for the interview:

  • What are your major roles at ImmBio?
  • What is the company’s mission?
  • How can I become a member of your company?
  • What issues define the position of a biotechnologist at ImmBio?
  • What forms of communication are important at the company?

According to John, ImmBio’s mission is ‘to produce quality vaccines that can deal with different infectious diseases’ (ImmunoBiology 2014, par. 8). The ‘company works together with various stakeholders to achieve its goals’ (ImmunoBiology 2014, par. 4). John also explained why every biotechnologist should be ready to support the company’s objectives. Communication is something critical at ImmBio. Many researchers embrace the power of interpersonal communication. This form of communication creates a horizontal hierarchy thus making it possible for ImmBio to achieve its goals. Every individual at ImmBio is encouraged to be part of every problem-solving or decision-making process.

Example of Workplace Communication

Interpersonal communication is essential in every biomedical organization. The practice makes it easier for employees to solve their problems. Many analysts ‘have completed numerous scientific studies in an attempt to examine the importance of effective communication strategies’ (Divan 2009, p. 48). The practice has made many biomedical companies profitable.

According to Divan (2009, p. 59), ‘interpersonal communication promotes organizational participation and engagement’. The practice encourages managers and employees to work together in an attempt to get the best results. Divan (2009) identified the importance of proper communication towards addressing various challenges. Many institutions use interpersonal communication practices to achieve their objectives.

Leaders and biotechnologists should identify the issues affecting their organizations. Organizational leaders must also use the best communication methods. Many scientific reviews support the ideas presented in Part 2. John White explained why employees should embrace the best communication practices. Many workshops have succeeded because of effective communication strategies (Johnson & Scott 2009). New studies are necessary for addressing the challenges existing in many biochemical firms. I will use this information after joining ImmBio. A good communication approach makes it easier to address every organizational obstacle.

According to Johnson and Scott (2009, p. 1), ’employees should always be ready to communicate effectively’. A good communicator should be able to listen. Divan (2009, p. 134), believes that ‘concision and clarity are critical concepts towards effective communication’. Many employees in different companies should also embrace the power of friendship. Confidence is necessary because it ensures every person achieves his or her goals (Johnson & Scott 2009). This practice can make many corporations successful. The use of effective interpersonal communication has made ImmBio successful. I am planning to use these skills and competencies after joining ImmBio Company.
