We can learn a great deal from other countries in the world, and other countries can learn from us, all in many ways. The more famous and prestigious actions such as the speeches of important political figures play some role in this, as well as the technological and economic efforts of any country. From a philosophical standpoint, all people have some knowledge that may not be apparent to other due to the difference of perspective, and as such, certainly, entire nations of people have at least something that can be taught to someone else. Each nation is comprised of different conditions, different scenarios, all resulting in different outcomes.

These differences alone allow for a unique collaboration of information, and even if all countries had an extensive recorded history that included all statistical possibilities (which is effectively mathematically impossible,) there would still be at least some condition relative to the environment that would allow for a different perspective in experience, and thus, would allow for a unique exchange of information. Learning is, fundamentally, a unique exchange of information.

Thus, it can clearly be said that all countries each have something that they can learn from any other country. There is no hypothetical situation that can be imagined that would suggest any other conclusion. Timothy Tyson’s (2008) “Blood Done Signed My Name” is an account of when people fail to see this level of objectivity and make biases and prejudices on such a high scale that they fail to be open-minded in many or all areas of life.

Political figures play an exemplary role in the potential to learn from others based on their position, however, it can be easily argued that any position plays a unique role. Political roles are unique in that they either do or at least attempt to represent an average of societal views or other more general and widespread issues. Politicians gather the statistics from large bodies of people and attempt to make decisions based on what is best for both these people as livers of life and the nation as a whole.

As different nations experience their own developments and reactions to a large variety of variables such as culture, environment, religion, employment processes, or anything else which may differ between countries, that nation will experience life from a different viewpoint than the other. In these situations, different politicians have obtained information about their perceived conditions which are different from those in other nations.

As such, this information would either be useful to the opposing nation preparing to experience the same conditions or would otherwise be generally informative on a conceptual level. Take the environment as a fundamental, though possibly outdated, example. Politicians or other authoritative figures controlled aspects in a hot climate may experience variables and outcomes differently than one in a cold climate. These nations may expand into regions that have different temperatures, and thus may learn more about conducting such processes as agriculture or warfare based on exchanges of information.

While the environment is one area in which there is little left to be learned from non-3rd-world countries thanks to modern meteorology and advanced communication, religion or economic conditions can just as easily be applied to the analogy. As mentioned, the politician’s position could be just as easily replaced by someone else in any other position as everyone with senses is gathering information from a unique set of variables and is resultantly useful by definition. Such objectivity is key in life for all people seeking to learn and appreciate the value of each other, while this objectivity was clearly absent in much of Tyson’s novel.

“Blood Done Sign My Name” is a classic account of bias and hatred based on segregation and stereotype alone. In any case, white people could not comprehend the compounded suffering and anguish of families as of Ben Chavis. Chavis, an activist, lost his objectivity and encourage young blacks to commit arson, while the courts lacked the desire to even put much effort into finding a solution to such a problem.

Earlier in Chavis’ family tree was a soldier during the American Revolution, who was a freed slave that eventually was killed by a white man. The reason for this murder was because the soldier was trying to see past segregation which encouraging equality and objectivity through teaching both whites and blacks in a classroom simultaneously. The murderer was so close-minded that he viewed this as a sin and killed the soldier and teacher for this reason alone.

The ignorance of racism, ironically, played a role in this story as well as many were not even “think racism was a problem in our church at all” (Tyson p.103) which reveals both people not even being open-minded enough to wholly embrace their religion for the other traditional view of stereotypes.

Racism, segregation, discrimination, and all forms of baseless hate and intolerance are counterproductive to both the human experience and the evolution of human intelligence. The truth is, no matter how advanced civilization may be, everyone has some information to offer that is unique and potentially useful to another. This is how varieties in all aspects of culture and humanity should be viewed, not only to avoid problems but to increase the positive elements of the human experience.
