Carbohydrates and Endurance in Athletes Report

Sport has always been an integral part of our life. Since ancient time people have been trying to improve their results and to do their best in order to amaze public and prove their power to the whole world. Things have not changed a lot since that time. Even nowadays, sportsmen try to do their best and excel their rivals and beat all records. It brings fame, wealth and recognition. However, it is only one side of the issue. People forget about the hellish toil which precedes all these achievements. Sportsmen have to work all night and all day in order to improve their results. In the process of trainings and competitions endurance plays the key role as it allows a sportsman to do more exercises and to prolong his/her training. That is why, it is quite obvious that for centuries sportsmen have been trying to improve this exponent. There were different methods to do it. Beginning with special exercises aimed at development of this quality and ending with special forbidden medicines or pills. However, in modern age people start realizing the importance of carbohydrates for development of endurance and positive influence of food, reach in this element.

The issue of using carbohydrates for increase of the level of endurance among athletes is comparatively new. These elements were not given so much attention in the past as the great role in the trainings of a sportsman was given to protein, as it was considered to be the main source of power. However, “in order to maximize and optimize performance and recovery, athletes need to continually load and reload muscle glycogen stores. This process cannot happen with a low-carbohydrate/high-protein diet” (Kattouf para.6). New discovery led to the beginning of a new era. In this era carbohydrates were acknowledged and their great role for sportsmen and people in the whole were recognized. The issue is not so complicated as it may seem at the first gaze. The thing is that “carbohydrate is a key fuel source for exercise, especially during prolonged continuous or high-intensity exercise” (“Carbohydrate – The Facts” para. 2). Having understood it, the only thing to do is to determine products which have this element in their composition and create a diet for a sportsman for him/her to use it and increase the level of his endurance. This task seems quite easy on paper, however, it is still difficult to perform settlement and create really effective way of consuming carbohydrates for a person to obtain all the needed elements and be able to function and remain healthy. That is why, the degree of a bachelor is needed in order to perform this work. Moreover, it is quite clear that it is very responsible work as the health and results of a sportsman depend on the ability of a specialist to create a diet. That is why, to exclude possibility of a mistake, only well educated professionals with a degree of a Bachelor should work in this sphere. Things are more complicated in the sphere of creating new approaches to consuming of carbohydrates and the ways of their entry into the organism. Scientists work hard in order to create new structure of carbohydrates which will be absorbed better. This problem is much more complicated than the previous one, as it is connected with changes in the structure of the element and some other aspects of the life sustaining activity of a person. Activity of this kind demands the MS degree as a person should have deep knowledge and practical skills in his field.

It is quite obvious, that the sphere of implementation and usage of carbohydrates must be under the strict control. Sport means fair rivalry with no other remedies which can guarantee some extra advantage. However, sport also means great money and fame, that is why different athletes may try to use achievements in this field of science to guarantee their victory. Taking it into account, different organizations which control the work of the sphere of sport have to control this problem. First of all, it is the NATA organization. People, who train sportsmen, of course know all aspects of the usage of carbohydrates and all negative and positive effects, connected with it. That is why, they should be deprived of the temptation to use some dirty methods in their training process. Moreover, ACSM has to be another organization involved in the process as it can regulate the use of carbohydrates and provide further investigations of this sphere. These investigations could be aimed at the creation of new ways of using carbohydrates and also detecting some cases of abuse of this remedy in sport.

However, carbohydrates and everything connected with them could not only be used by professional sportsmen. There are also many people who could be interested in achievements in this sphere. First of all, the practice of using it for increasing activity, endurance and efficiency of trainings can be very useful for people who go in for sports not professionally, just to improve general state of their body. They can get the knowledge about this way of increasing the level of efficiency of their training from their coach or specialized magazines. Nevertheless, it will be useful for them. That is why, it is possible to state that the sphere of application of this practice will vary from professional sportsmen to amateurs who go in for sports just to improve the state of their body.

Having suggested its wide range of usage, it is possible to suggest that carbohydrates will be very popular on the market. Its popularity can bring great benefits to people who will try to work in the sphere. Resting of these facts, it is obvious to suggest, that typical entry level salary will be higher than in other spheres. It can be explained by the fact that professional sport is connected with great sums of money and it is quite understandable that people, who take acre about the state of sportsmen, should also be well paid.

Having analyzed the issue, it is possible to come to several conclusions. First of all, it must be said, that the use of carbohydrates in the sphere of professional sport must be stressed. Nowadays, elements of this group become one of the main factors which promote development of endurance among sportsmen and common people who go in for sports. Moreover, being rather popular, this sphere can guarantee high level of salaries for people who work in it. However, only professionals should be allowed to work in this field as it is connected with the health of a person and a mistake can lead to disastrous results. It is possible to predict further development of this sphere, as sportsmen still need energy to beat their records.
