The changes in culture have affected the definitions of kids because adults do not want to grow up due to the difficulties they are undergoing in society. The way of life in America has greatly changed, making it very difficult for a young adult to cope with life. In his blog, Richard wrote that young adults are referred to generation Recession because most of them are unemployed, living in their parents’ house while delaying big life milestones such as marriage and child-rearing. Culture has changed the realities of growing up, and social forces like a competitive economy are responsible for slowing the process of growing up.
Moreover, kids are no longer children; due to moral culture changes, they engage in behavior that is not acceptable. Our modern culture has taught children to engage in cyber pornography, crimes, and even begging in the streets. Parents are too attached to their jobs that they forget to raise their children in an upright manner. The children acquire bad behavior from society; they learn aggressive behavior, inappropriate sexual behavior, crime, drug abuse, and prostitution.
In my own opinion, adults should grow up, face the challenges in life, and work through them. They should employ child intelligence; this means they should face the world with bold ideas, creativity, and greater optimism. A young adult’s big dream and expectations would foster one to wake up and fight for their dreams, thus establishing themselves and attaining a high maturity level.
