Introduction
The role of women in our world is great indeed: they influence the development of all spheres of life, they support their men and bring up children, they participate in numerous political events, and they try to improve this world by means of different methods. The events of September 11 touched so many people and took so many lives away that this day became one of the most tragic days in the history of the United States. We have already heard a lot of opinions as to the reasons, aftermath, and possible averting of those accidents.
The article written by Jenifer Hyndman is one of those which analyzes the events of September 11 in order not to blame someone but find out the mistakes and correct them. Feminist Geopolitics and September 11 is the article that presents the evaluation of the events on September 11 from the perspective inherent mostly to women; it is not about male criticism and their evident mistakes; it underlines the importance of improving the security of the United States and analyzes the violence that is so peculiar to human beings.
Summary of the Reading
In Feminist Geopolitics and September 11, Hyndman is not a simple analysis of the events which happened on September 11. This article aims to clear up the understanding of security and to explain them in a more feministic. (Hyndman 565) The author argues that nothing in the world can ever justify the killing of absolutely innocent people, children above all. It concerns either the attacks of September 11 or any other event that causes such death.
No one has the right to decide who should die and who should live without having enough persuasive reasons. Hyndman offers feministic geopolitics as a more reliable idea to analyze the interlacing of power and space. She relies on the ideas of such writers as Eleonore Kofman and Barchetta. To my mind, one of the interesting issues, which are raised in this article, is the role of Afghanistan women.
During the attacks on Afghanistan of 2001 in response to the attacks of September 11, all women were invisible. No one wanted to concentrate on their roles and even their lives. In their turn, Mr. and Mrs. Bush underlined the importance of providing Afghanistan women and children with the necessary help, as it is inherent to all humans. The report on the number of deaths after those attacks was filtered for several times, and the results were depressive. Such kind of violence cannot be even justified by any patriotic value. It is too cruel, and this cruelty had strong reasons.

This article has no concrete conclusions, as the theme of terror and constant wars between definite countries has no end. Terrorism, wars, and numerous deaths continue. Feminist geopolitics is one of the disciplines which concentrate not only on politics and space but on human troubles as well. In order to prevent these wars and live in peace, it is crucially important not to analyze only some political actions, but also consider geographical issues. This is what feminist geopolitics and this article are all about.
Innocent civilians and sudden breaking of their lives – this is what should bother and even may stop possible attacks. It is necessary to underline that the life of each person is only one and no one but God should decide when it is needed to be stopped. Nowadays, lots of people think that they have enough power to rule the world. It is necessary to just think a bit that such kind of power is fleeting and does not make any good to anyone. What did all those terrorists want to prove by means of attacks and such a huge number of deaths, their own deaths as well? Was it reasonable? Was it fair? Hardly! Every person has his/her own point of view, and often, it is very difficult to change someone’s mind.
Conclusion
People cannot live in conflict day by day. Innocent people suffer most of all because the governments of different countries cannot find the necessary consensus. It is not fair that, very often, people’s lives may be too short because of wrong politics and wrong decisions.
This is why such disciplines as feministic geopolitics, their ideas, and activities should be taken into consideration. The major purpose of feministic geopolitics is to “trace the connections between geographic and political locations, exposing investments in the dominant geopolitics rhetoric, in the pursuit of a more accountable and embodied geopolitics that contests the wisdom of violence targeted at innocent civilians, wherever they may be.” (Hyndman, 574) Certain time has already passed after the attacks of September 11, however, the fear of being killed suddenly, without any reasons, still bother millions of people.
It is high time to call for people’s humanity and underline more and more that the future of our generation depends on us only, and we are responsible for the future of our children. Of course, words are not the best way out; however, it may serve as a good beginning to stop conflicts and live safe and sound.
