Their innovational and contemporary approach to the organisation of the work process has given them a big advantage and influenced the number of customers and their loyalty.
In order to achieve the best results in managing the company’s work process, its leaders decided to introduce their delivery system to a set of modern computer programs and marketing tools that allow the customers more options in controlling their orders and also let the managers maintain the working process without failures. The company owns a powerful IT infrastructure, which provides the connection between the customer, inventory, billing and truck delivery.
As it is said in the video, FreshDirect brand carries a lot of responsibilities handling such intimate aspect of people’s lives as picking up and delivering their food, there is a lot of trusts involved, and the company cannot fail its customers (FMP Media, n. d.). The visibility to the company’s workflow is crucial because there is a lot of data being handled and many orders are being sent every hour, to avoid confusion and mistake the company managers to need to be able to see every order being processed and be able to solve the problems before they affect the customer.
Exception screens are used to trace the delivery trucks and see if they are stuck in traffic or broken so that another truck could be sent to pick up the orders. Exception screens serve to avoid technical delays in the delivery process.
