Miriam Alamr has assumed the position of an Account Manager. Previously, she was the account executive. In keeping up with the spirit of awarding merit and hard work, Glowork promotes and awards its employees. The promotion of Miriam is part of Glowork’s policy of empowering Saudi women and promoting affirmative action in the workplace. Jowharah Altheyeb is now the HR manager. Jowharah Altheyeb has organized numerous workshops to educate Saudi women on how to attain similar status and competitive edge in attaining employment as men. In a highly patriarchal society, her efforts are gaining ground. In her workshops, Jowharah Altheyeb is also training women and men on how to apply for jobs the right way, which includes writing CVs, preparing for a job interview and ensuring they attain promotions. As the new account manager, Miriam Alamr has revolutionized the accounting system to save costs and increase profits through adoption of automated accounting systems.

With the changing technology, it is becoming increasingly easy to analyze all the relevant factors that lead to changes in cost. These factors are called cost drivers. The relevant costs can be classified into opportunity costs, avoidable costs and incremental costs. When the cost drivers have been thoroughly analyzed, it necessitates the use of predetermined overhead absorption rates. This makes Activity Based Costing be the most appropriate in this case. Activity Based Costing is pegged on the in-depth analysis of all the cost drivers that include all the factors that lead to changes in overhead costs.

Activity-Based Systems determine the real cost of an overhead before assigning the costs to such activities. Therefore, a company allocates costs to those units that require the activity. The approach appreciates the fact that at any point, the company’s activities will occasion cost, which will vary with production levels. Therefore, the costs should be assigned to the products that require such activities to arrive at a more accurate measure. The distinguishing feature of Activity Based Costing is that it links the output of the manufacturing entity to the cost of all activities involved in production. Value added activities could be determined using this approach. The manufacturing entity can proceed to eliminate activities, which are not adding value to the product. This will improve the manufacturing system’s performance.

Glowork also uses other systematic organizational programs to reward employees’ performance. Many theories suggest that they are a source of motivation for employees. The basic principle is to recognize exceptional performance from employees. They are competitive which means employers should carry them out carefully. These programs include mentions in important forums by special people in the organizations. For example, the CEO, directors or top management staff. Secondly, it involves use of trophies. Other organizations use special titles or job names. Glowork’s intention is to create an open environment where merit and hard work are rewarded.

Glowork Head of Business Development

On 14 September, Ms Nof Alsufyani joined Glowork as the new head of business development. Her main task will be looking into ways to grow the business to the next level. Additionally, she will look into ways of empowering and integrating women in Saudi Arabia to the growth policy. Through reengineering of business processes, Ms Nof Alsufyani will oversee radical and effective methods of dealing with business development strategies. Reengineering business development will also be effective in reducing costs and improving quality of service. Reengineering, however, will require thorough evaluation before Glowork embarks on it to refine its processes. Many firms have tried and failed to carry out Business Process Reengineering successfully. The reason is that the process requires a lot of time, resources, and knowledge for successful implementation. At Glowork, there have been changes to the processes carried out by management in the past. These changes were informed by previous needs and market assessment. What is different this time is that there is an all round participation of major Glowork departments.

Campaign targeting several sectors

In an effort to increase the target audience, Glowork is undertaking a vigorous campaign targeting new sectors such as education, medical, telecommunication, tourism, and commercial cleaning. These areas employ many women, which is the core operational goal for Glowork. Glowork aims at empowering women in these target groups and areas. Although the importance of education in human capital formation is subject to debate in formulating education policies, Glowork takes education of women seriously. The influence of globalization, impact of conflict on education, performance measurements for the various stages in education and knowledge transfer with the aim of creating a knowledge economy form the basis of discussion in instilling lifelong learning and forming human capital. At Glowork, education will form the pillar for the growth of Saudi economy. Additionally, it is one of the most basic ways of empowering women.

Tourism has social, economic, political, and religious significances. Diverse aspects of tourism and their relevance to people of Saudi Arabia depend on a number of factors, both personal and societal. Since the factor of time is arguably a critical aspect of tourism, it is worthwhile to understand that tourism activities should be time-bound; otherwise, they lose their intended purposes. Glowork understands these critical aspects. Through a program aimed at shoring up tourism profits and reception, the company is working towards creating a culture of growing it. As a source of national wellbeing, the philosophical concept of enabling people to navigate rather than just to live is best achieved through tourism. Glowork has adopted Ecotourism. Although it is a new concept, Ecotourism boosts healthy social interactions among people in Saudi Arabia. Tourism is a philosophy of life in which people interact with their environment in order to boost their economic wellbeing. By interacting with people from different societies and ways of life, Saudis get to appreciate the discrepancies among people and the need to conserve the fauna and flora.
