Scientific research in nursing, as in any other scholarly discipline, is reliable scientific data. This data enables carrying out and improving the method of performing professional activities (Boswell & Cannon, 2018). Without conducting scientific research in the field of nursing, it is impossible to formulate a strategic view on the development of nursing services of medical institutions. It is also challenging to improve the quality of nursing care provided to the population, rational use of human resources, and the introduction of new technologies to the activities of nursing staff.
Pearl City Nursing Home
The Pearl City Nursing Home provides residence and highly qualified help for senior patients. Our facility is “Medicare and Medicaid certified and state licensed for 122 residents” (“About”, n.d., para. 2). Unfortunately, Pearl City Nursing Home does not have a special research committee. However, the facility integrates best practices in geriatrics with a full spectrum of services to meet the needs of our residents. It is worth mentioning that all the specialists at Pearl City Nursing Home perform various kinds of research in private, as they understand that it is a critical component of practice.
Personal Experience
As for me, recently I began to apply the achievements of the latest research in nursing of the National Institute of Nursing Research, one of the biggest medical research agencies in the USA, to my work (“About the NIH Almanac”, n.d.). The research concerned proper care of patients and communication with them as well as their relatives. I can conclude that the methods used in our work are effective and improve the quality of patient care in the Pearl City Nursing Home.
Conclusion
The Pearl City Nursing Home is a somewhat small facility that does not have dedicated researchers, but it tries to follow best practice standards for care. I have assisted in the process by looking into the latest findings and implementing them in practice. In my efforts, I have been able to observe that these methods result in considerable improvements in the general quality of patient care in the facility.
