The international law practices present the importance in today’s world. Due to the rising temps of globalization, the cooperation between countries is crucial for achieving the appropriate functioning of various political and economic processes. The use of force, compliance with international treaties and the work of international courts are one of the most discussed topics in the modern world.
Treaties
The importance of treaties is hard to underestimate. They help to establish a safe environment for actions of various spheres. Conventions, for instance, make it easier to do business in different countries, because the possible arising issues will be solved according to the international regulations specified in agreements between those countries. In my opinion, one of the most important things concerning this concept nowadays is various student exchange programs.
Although it is difficult to evaluate the effect of these programs, they will certainly do a lot of good in the nearest future. The world today needs to have a unified science field, for it is crucial for progress to share the knowledge. Moreover, students will learn the ways in which certain issues are tackled in other states, and use this experience in their home country.
The biggest issue with treaties lies in problems which come up when international agreements have to interfere with local rules and regulations. Sometimes the laws of one country are extremely different regarding values stated in those agreements. For example, the European Court of Human Rights may decide that a Polish citizen requires compensation from his government because it did not support his fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution. However, the Polish court may decide otherwise, since the ECHR does not have any serious enforcement power in the country. Nevertheless, most international agreements concerning business, travel, and general safety regulations seem to work well, and companies and the ordinary people may feel safe when interacting with other countries.

As it has been mentioned above, the international courts possess a vital role. They give an opportunity for people, communities, and countries to be judged equally and with compliance to the modern rules and basic human rights. The latter is especially crucial for nowadays there are still places where particular groups of people are treated poorly based on prejudice.
Moreover, international courts are helpful when analyzing crimes made by governments. For instance, there are some countries in Africa, where the leaders pressure the local societies, sometimes with the help of the armed forces, causing deaths and economic instability. An international tribunal may carry out the appropriate decision regarding those leaders, ensuring that the judgment is fair and not sponsored by their supporters.
International courts also prove to be useful when dealing with cases concerning disputes between companies based in different countries. For example, if the Apple corporation accused the Samsung company, the issue would have to be solved by one of the global courts. It is impossible to work out a fair decision locally since Apple would be supported by the US court, while the Korean government would surely help Samsung. International law is crucial for businesses because it ensures that a company’s rights will be kept and defended if this company operates in the global market. Thus, international courts may be seen as a driving force for the development of the global commerce and economics, and the countries’ progress as a result.
Use of Force
The use of force by the international organizations seems to be one of the most discussed topics of today’s world. With numerous military conflicts currently happening around the globe, organizational like the United Nations have to collect the best ideas and provide the best decision for tackling them. While peacemaking is a complex term, the use of armed forces stands out as the most controversial measure among the other methods.
The current conflict in Syria, for instance, results in instability for the whole world. Terrorists threaten different countries and the geography of the conflict lies outside of the one country’s borders. However, the UN should remember that the war in Syria originally had a local character, and the interference of the US, according to some opinions, has led to weapons being acquired by the wrong people.
When talking about the Syrian war, it must be said that there are several countries helping to end it. The most interesting case is about the Russian and American troops both presented in the fields. Both countries accuse each other of the improper usage of force, which leads to casualties among civilians. However, it is easy to notice that the conflict is just an opportunity for them to strengthen their international weight and prove the reputation of a superpower country.
Conclusion
While the international law is still developing, it has made huge progress over the past century. The work of international courts, their decisions on passing treaties and using armed forces internationally bring different results. The best further tactic may lie in analyzing the past mistakes and drawing the right conclusions.
