Introduction

The Census Tract 106.02 lies in Kāneʻohe, Honolulu, Hawaii. It is found in Koʻolaupoko, Oʻahu Island. The Census Tract includes Kailua town on the east, which is accessible through Bay Drive or Kamehameha Highway. It is expected that the office market vacancy rate would decline significantly before the end of the year relative to the previous periods after recession. The rent will go up and keen property investors have started to develop new stores, apartments and office blocks.

The Census Tract 106.02 also has several public service departments. There is a fire department, which has handled over 103 fires, 119 hazardous conditions and 17 service calls since the year 2006. In addition, an emergency medical department is also available.

Healthcare facilities offer different services based on medical conditions and needs of residents. There were over 411 people in skilled nursing facilities while over 120 people were in residential nursing homes for adults. A significant number (140) was at orthopedic wards and medical institutions for physical treatment.

Drug and alcohol abuse homes had 128 people, whereas 28 patients were in mental healthcare facilities in addition to 18 people in mentally retarded facilities. It is expected that the number of nursing homes and other healthcare facilities will continue to rise in the Census Tract 106.02 because many of the residents will turn to senior citizens.

Politically, residents of the Census Tract 106.02 have aligned themselves with the Democratic Party. Previous Presidential Election results have shown that more than 50 percent of voters have cast their votes for Democratic Party’s candidates. Moreover, the support for Democratic Party has increased significantly since the year 2008 to present.

One may conclude that voters’ decisions in the Census Tract 106.02 are guided by ideologies rather than racial ideologies because for the past two terms the US president has been black. In fact, majorities are Asians while African-Americans form a small percentage of voters.

The Census Tract 106.02 has experienced some historical earthquakes, but they were not strong and far below the national average. In addition, some forms of natural disasters one might experience include floods, flash floods, fires, storms, landslides, mudslides, Tsunami wave, hurricane and typhoon among others.

In conclusion, the Census Tract 106.02 is a well-developed residential community in Kaneohe, Hawaii. The population consists of residents from different racial communities. Recent data show a decline in the number of residents. The average household income has continued to rise over the years, but the cost of living remains higher than the national average. There are major commercial stores, groceries, financial institutions and other public service departments, including military base, botanical garden and other tourism sites.
