From the article Obama Signs Executive Order on Abortion Funding Limits (CNN Wire Staff) we learn that not so long ago president Obama has signed the executive order in which existing limits on the federal abortion funding remained under control of a new health care reform law. This decision caused protests from the Democratic party and the Democrat Bart Stupak personally. Then we knew that such protests from the Democrats were known quite long ago. And the problem was not only in question of life saving, but also in rising taxes for the taxpayers to cover the abortion fund expenses. Democrats appealed to create a separate organization to rule the abortion questions.

As usual theory is confirmed by praxis. This case is different. Praxis is confirmed by theory. The traces of Democrats’ opposition and sharp criticism against this decision can be easily found in implicit political ideology based on the Bible teaching. Being the most churchgoing nation on the globe, Americans continue to imply a strong religious faith into the national political agenda pattern. According to the statistics, 69 percent of respondents in 2007 agreed with the statement “The president should have strong religious beliefs” (O’Connor 14). Analyzing this situation, we can say that religious preferences had a considerable impact on a government but not became so-called stumbling block interfering the rational thinking. At all events, declaring the idea of “maintaining the principle of the sanctity of life”, the Democrat Bart Stupak and his supporters maintained the proposition of financing the abortions in cases of rape or incest, or if the woman’s life is in danger.

As the theory illustrates, ideologies facilitate the people’s choice and decision-making. They guide national political actions, provide reasons to understand current social and political conditions, especially in crisis times.

The article Perry Turns Tables in Texas by Tying Hutchison to Washington (CNN Wire Staff) depicts the confrontation of two strong politicians: Kay Bailey Hutchison and Rick Perry. From the mass-media source we knew that this year Kay Bailey Hutchison began a new program in order to get the position of the Texas senator. Her actions led to hostile reactions from the present-day Texan senator Rick Perry. The policy experts declared that Hutchison, a three-term senator, now is almost helpless against the anti-established wind, a fact acknowledged even by her supporters and campaign advisers (Hamby). Being the most senior senator among women-senators from Republican party, Kay Bailey Hutchison still is one of the most powerful ladies in America. Unfortunately, this achievement was transformed into a serious default by a present-day Texan senator Rick Perry who accused her to be “Washington, big government, high taxes”. Then he added : «I am Texas, I have kept taxes low, I have kept the government off your back” (Hamby). This statement had a stunning effect on voters. The Hutchison’s chances to win are very low now. Nevertheless, there are people in Senate as well as in the Party for whom Hutchison is a strong politician and influential person able to win over and over again. Though both Kay Bailey Hutchison and Rick Perry are the Republicans, the division of this party into two separate groups is impossible.

The summary that can be done out of this article is the following: the perfect situation could be if liberals were liberal and conservatives were conservative. But the heart of the matter is that sometimes people who consider themselves conservatives occupy liberal position while decision-making and vice versa. Via the confrontation of two strong politicians the pragmatic concept of a party as a power formation becomes apparent. The main goal to win the office in order to exercise power and ideological program is undeniable. And it does not matter what sources and control arms are used to achieve the aim. As far as the overwhelming majority of American voters have moderate judgments, such stable conceptions as capitalism, democracy, individual liberty, free enterprise, equality of opportunity, and religious freedom remain the key factors that help to manipulate public opinion and, finally, decision-making.
