Introduction
The elements I chose for this discussion are orderly management of self and professional conduct, and effective team membership and team leadership. I believe that these elements are the basis for the success of a professional in any field.
Orderly management of self and professional conduct
The key to successful self-management lies in such abilities as critical thinking and emotional maturity. Self-management assumes proper and objective self-review and self-evaluation with the purpose of identifying of own strengths and weaknesses. In this regard, critical thinking is a valuable skill that provides one with the ability to determine the ways to conduct self-development and the areas where this development is required. As for emotional maturity, it allows one to review themselves objectively minimizing biased self-perception.
Being aware of the importance of self-management and its basic elements, I have been focused on the development of my own emotional maturity and critical thinking for the last several years. In order to track my needs and achievements, I regularly apply self-analysis which is based on my identification of the aspects of my life and my personality or achievements where I wish I had better results. For that I inquire myself about the aspects I would like to be different in me or my development. When the needs are identified I work out a plan to address them and a set of criteria to follow my progress based on time and achievement determinants. Besides, I exercise my emotional maturity to develop a logical and objective approach to the issues of others and my own problems. This allows the to make better decisions in personal life and give better advice to others.
Effective team membership and team leadership
The key to successful team work is collaboration and the key to leadership is being about to fully rely on a team, stimulate their productive interaction, and provide necessary guidance for the achievement of the common goal. In a team, each member is to be prepared to obtain the role of a leader on a project when necessary. Besides, autocratic leaders seldom have a balanced relationship with the team. A leader has to be able to cooperate openly with the team members and maintain a respectful and responsive environment.
I have experience with both kinds of interactions. I am not afraid of responsibilities and do well under pressure. Working as a team member I priorities the success of the whole project trying to contribute to the group work and be a valuable team member. I respect my peers and maintain active communication in order to avoid misunderstandings and needless work. As a leader, I always create a clear and detailed plan to organize the work and provide each member of my team with a set of tasks and duties they need to fulfill. I believe that when everyone follows clear instructions it maximizes the productivity of the teamwork and maintains its speed.
Conclusion
To conclude, my purpose is an ongoing development of my self-management, teamwork and leadership skills in order to make a valuable professional for all kinds of work in my professional field.
