Introduction

Recruitment exercise is the process by which organizations communicate information to the public regarding the vacant positions available that they would wish to fill (Berman et al. 2009). In order to handle this process, an organization welcomes applications from qualified persons who would wish to work for them.

This process takes place in three steps:

  • The first step is to plan and approve the positions to be advertised. In any organized institution, the planning process takes place in two ways; the first way involves carrying out a strategic analysis of the anticipated challenges, predicted future needs and opportunities that the organization can take advantage of. Secondly, the organization puts into action the strategic plans that were developed, any time that concrete positions become vacant.
  • The second step involves making the necessary preparations to advertise the positions that have been approved by an organization’s top decision making organ. A standard advertisement should have the following types of detailed information: The title and organization affiliation, the salary range which basically should inform about the starting salary, job description and roles, minimum qualification for the position, and the procedure for application. On top of that, the organization should show commitment towards equal opportunity and gender balance.

Conclusion

Finally, an organization performs an evaluation and assessment task of all the possible strategies that can be applied in the specific recruitment process. The organization then selects and uses the ones that best fit the specific scenario. The recruitment strategy can involve posting of advertisements or announcements at public places. On the other hand it can also be through electronic means whereby posting can be on agency websites that have been specifically developed for job seekers.

The sole purpose of the recruitment exercise is to enable an organization employ the right person for a specific job (Dale 2003).
