Goals for the project
The main purpose of the project is to investigate on the goals to be met in order to introduce and market the product Solarind. The establishment of a new product in the market poses many real-time challenges. The constraints can be related to cost of development, price of the product in market, time spent on developing the product and time taken for submitting the complete product to the consumers. The presence of substitutes of the product can result in the failure of Solarind. So, the first step is to discover complete features of the alternatives available in the market. It will be essential to include many attributes absent in those and almost all important characteristics present in those substitutes. Increase in the features can make the alternatives to be less similar or they are not alternatives anymore. The price fixing is an important step which is found to be a significant factor in altering the number of consumers. The price restraints along with the complexity of the usage of the product are to be considered with keen concentration. People opt for the products which are easier to operate and obtain the required output.
Initiatives are to be taken according to the external conclusions of the project creators rather than the personal decisions. The decisions mainly depend on the situation of the area where the product is introduced. Australia is a country having a dry climatic condition with a plenty of sunlight-exposed geographical area. This gives a chance for marketing products driven by solar power. Solarind absorbs and saves solar energy in the daytime and makes use of it at night. So, this can easily find market in countries like Australia.
A sudden change from brightness to darkness is not a comfortable situation. This shows the requirement of a product like Solarind. This detects the lowering of the light and puts the blinds on along with powering up the light emitting diodes ( LEDs) associated. “LEDs emit light when an electric current passes through them.” (Light emitting diodes (LEDs) 2009).
Though the LEDs are insignificant with respect to the powering of the entire house or building, they provide a small source of light to keep away the uncomfortably produced by darkness. In a case where small children are there, this proves to be much useful. The LEDs remain in on state until it is made off manually. The people should be aware of the advantages of using the reusable cheaper sources of energy for home applications. So, making them conscious about it is a prerequisite for the successful marketing of the product. The eco-friendly products and those with renewable cheap sources of energy are always preferred by the customers. Solar energy is a source of energy that will not get exhausted till the death of earth. “Solar energy is the most readily available source of energy. It does not belong to anybody and is, therefore, free.” (Solar energy n.d.).
The success achieved by the product in the market is always dependent on the enhancement of its features frequently. Solarind is to be developed and marketed with constant increase in the enrichment of the advantages. Pollution free products can hit the market easily. The product can become successful at the initial stage and may become degraded later, if no repeated revision is done on it at intervals. Solarind becomes absorbable by the customers due to the simpler steps of usage, cheaper cost, readily available consistent source etc. So, with keeping the goals in mind, effective steps are to be carried out.
Documentation
Purpose of the documentation
The purpose of documentation is to make the customers familiarize about the automatic blind system which is used in homes and offices, and also in all kinds of residential areas. This can be installed in bedroom, kitchen, living room, dining room etc. “Automatic blind system is hidden and integrated in the insulating glass. All the up/down & rotation of the blind will be operated by radio remote control.” (Automatic window blind system (Louver) 2009).
This documentation will act as a manual for the users which clarifies all kinds of doubts that the user may have regarding the product. This document will lend a hand to the user to operate the product. Operating the product means how it is installed, how it is used and the different features available for this product.
Different tasks the user need to perform
This section covers different tasks the user needs to perform. This product is very beneficial for the customers in the aspect of low powered and energy-saving room lighting. This product has got input and output. The input part can be energy from the sun or it can be the infrared signal and the output can be the series of LED which is emitting the light. The overall functionality is based on intensity of the light.
The working of the product is like this: Solar energy is needed to charge the battery. The battery gets charged until it is full. The energy stored in the product gets converted into translational energy which is needed to function the motor which is placed in the product. This leads to emit the light from the LED which is placed in the product. The product can be switched off manually by using remote control. This can be operated manually by remote control when there is no sunlight. Lights in the product can be made on by setting the intensity default.
The best time to use this product is during hot, dry, and sunny climates. At this time the charging capability of the product is very high and customers get most out of this as the solar energy is more.
Some steps are to be followed for installation of the product. These steps are shown below.
Remote control specification
Remote control can be used to operate the device manually. The remote control consists of channel indicator lights for showing the channels and also the infrared light. After this, there are buttons named open, close and stop. Channel buttons are used for choosing channels up and down.
Setting the channel
Once the power to the unit is on, channel can be set by pressing the channel selection button. Light will indicate at the proper channel position.
Open and stop button
These buttons are used for opening and closing. To open, press the ‘open’ button and when appropriate position is reached press ‘stop’ button. Similarly for closing, press ‘close’ button and when appropriate position is reached press ‘stop’ button. Users can hear beep sounds whenever the buttons are pressed.
Analysis of the product
This product mainly aims the people living in houses. By using this product, rooms will look very nice. What makes the product attractive to the user is that it is very easy for opening and closing. It is a large power saver, because it mainly uses solar energy. Also, every time darkness appears in the room it will light, so that there is no need to fear to move around. This increases the likeliness of the children for this product.
