The organization success is therefore dependent on the employee’s efforts so that it can realize the organizational goals. The human resource problem in Scorecard Company is that the human resource needs have not been met.

Needs that are not met may cause the employees to lose motivation and lead to poor performance.

Supporting the problem

The employees of PM Company which was merged with the Scorecard Company have raised their concerns about the human resource manager who is accused of misconduct. He has treated the employees unequally when it comes to compensation and leaves. Another need that has not been met is that of enabling the employees grow in their career.

In most cases, employees who join the company retain their positions for a long time hence upward mobility is rare. Moreover, when scorecard merged with PM Company the employees were not involved by the executive in the process and neither were the experts of production and other departments involved.

The need to communicate has also been overlooked. The executive has neglected the advice of other executive members and has deliberately withheld information that is required by the other executive members. Furthermore, team work in the process of merging was abandoned and the executive became authoritative and secretive concerning the matter.

All these needs that the employees require could have been avoided if the executive welcomed opinions from the executive team. Consequently, employees have left the company while other who remained lack motivation.

Alternative to the problem

Motivation

The problem could have been avoided by motivating the employees. Jacobs (p. 2) argues that paying attention to human needs could lead to motivation. In order to motivate them the employer can meet their needs. This can be achieved by giving the employee high standards of living. The company can avail opportunities where the employees can train and grow in their career. They can enable them get hold of good housing where the company assist them in purchasing.

The advantage of enabling the human resources access high standards of living is that they become motivated and channel their efforts towards working in the organization. The employees also become informed and work effectively and efficiently. Sequentially, the company realizes increase in the revenue.

The employees becomes self motivated when their needs are met and becomes more innovative while performing their duties. After training they are likely to make fewer mistakes and know what their duties are composed of. As a result the employee has a sense of belonging, is committed and is likely to serve in the company for long.

Employees who train in the company may choose to move to other companies after completion of their training. The company loses the trained and competent employee and may be required to train employees who join.

The executive or employers who have a negative perception believe that employees have no interest in work, are not motivated and must be given directions as well as be coerced to work.
