According to Fox (416), the Islamic community and the nations covered under the Islamic-dominated regions seem to have divergent opinions concerning the international politics. Given such perceptions, this essay seeks to investigate the gradual rise and spread of the Islamic political movements, their natural influence on the global politics, and their major political principles that influence the Islamic States.

The Rise and Spread of Islam

The Islamic world began with a humble historical background within the western region of the Middle East, which currently bears the name of Saudi Arabia. According to Mandaville (24), during the second half of the seventh century, the Islamic religion spread rapidly across the Middle East, across the parts of North Africa, and across the parts of Persia.

During the subsequent era of its evolution, the Islamic religion spread across the eastern and the southern part parts of Asia, and ultimately covered several parts of the southeastern Asia, which currently encompass Indonesia and Malaysia (Mandaville 50). Founded on the patriarchal leadership systems, the Islamic communities bonded strongly to form various Islamic dynasties and empires that strongly dominated the Middle East and formed the backdrop of the human civilization, education, and science.

What prompted the modern evolution and human civilization in the Islamic world was their latest interaction with the Europeans during the regime of the Ottoman Empire. According to Mandaville (26), the Ottomans appeared to be the first Muslim leaders who fostered a political interaction between the Islamic communities and the European powers, after the world began transforming into the modern-state systems.

The modern-state systems evolved during the seventeenth century, when empire leadership systems started becoming extinct as the modern presidency leaderships emerged (Mandaville 31). The European powers gradually began colonizing the Islamic empires and this became the standpoint of progression in the global politics. Fox asserts that during the nineteenth century, the Islamic communities developed some anti-colonial movements recognized as the Pan-Islamic movements, which confronted the European powers (417).

Islam and the Global Politics

Since the nineteenth century, Islam has been extremely influential in the entire regional politics of the Middle East, the Persian Gulf, North Africa, and even in the global politics (Kuran 398). Generally, the Western nations of the European world are the controllers of the global politics, modern civilization, and the global economic progress.

International trade is very significant in the international politics due to its direct role in the global politics. International trade is the focal point of improving the economic statuses of the nations and the border relationships between nations (Kuran 401). The manner in which the Middle East nations have realized the importance of treaties in businesses and the influence of transnational corporations has helped the reformation of the Islamic States in the modern politics (Mandaville 96). The Islamic nations have imposed Muslim-related regulations on their trading partners based on the foundations of the Islamic laws. The European investors often find themselves in quandaries since they must espouse to the Islamic banking and investment principles.

The Islamic world has an intense contribution in the manner in which modern people view the aspects of globalization, multiculturalism, and modernization. Many nations across the world seem to engage in a civilization based on the westernization principles (Mamdani 767). This is where the social aspect interrelates with religion, politics, culture, and modern civilization.

Whereas the Islamic States advocate for decent dressing and a clear distinction between the powers of a woman and a man in societal leadership and cultural issues, the western civilization has prompted the equitable distribution of leadership powers among genders (Mamdani 769).

The international discourses surrounding global power and leadership also encompass the plight of women, which the European nations have frequently instigated. The Islamic States are contemptuous about the equitable sharing of the leadership powers between genders.

The Islamic nations have a unique approach to State-leadership in the sense that the majority of them are resistant to state secularism. According to Mandaville (111), secularism refers to the perspective of viewing the church and state institutions distinctively. The basic condition of taking leadership or vying for any political position in the Islamic nations is that one must understand the Islamic laws to lead the Muslims (Mamdani 769).

The Al-Qaeda Islamic group has been against the foreign countries and especially the European nations, which often advocate for a distinction between state-leadership and religion. According to Fox (421), such differences between the views of the Europeans and the views of the Muslims concerning the religion-state leadership create international political concerns that bring about illegal Islamic movements that fight against the Europeans.

The entire economy of the world relies on the prices of crude oil and natural gas, which are the primary sources of energy that are vital for industrialization. The Islamic nations have always ranked top in the production of the crude oil and other significant natural sources of energy (Kuran 402).

Most of the global battles and politics revolve around struggles for the acquisition of these rich regions that have precious natural resources. The geopolitical prominence of the Middle East during the post-colonial regime lies within its vast oil wealth, which has attracted political interests of several nations of the European economies (Fox 419). The large dependence on the rich Gulf oil for economic growth and global stabilization has made the Middle East nations to attain an irresistible global influence.
