Introduction
John and Peter were both the disciples of Jesus Christ the son of man. During their last ministries to the people of the world, they underwent favorable and unfavorable events. Their last times on earth were characterized by miracles, persecutions, oppression, and many other things. Because God the Almighty had sent John to come and witness the light of the world, he gave him all the powers. The Bible says he was not the light himself but was sent to bear witness to the light all men through him might believe. John 1:7. Most of John’s ministry is about Jesus’ personal life, the wonderful miracles, driving demons out of people, biblical parables. John’s ministry leaves a big impact that is ever felt in contemporary Christianity. He describes Jesus as the real-life in heaven and recognizes the fact that his spirit is alive and present forever, he is the redeemer to the faithful and actually acknowledges the power of the Holy Ghost as the comforter to mankind and the prevalence of love as fundamentals of Christian behavior. John again recognizes the divinity of Jesus and says Jesus is the way, truth, and the final life. He strongly gives an assurance to the people that Jesus the son of man is the eternal life to those that believe in him. John was perceived a Jewish and in most cases during his public appearances concentrated on the Jewish communities. Most theologies argue that this could perhaps explain the dominance of John with respect to the vivid picture of Jewish. On the other hand, Peter’s ministry was similar to that of Jesus. ( Life application study bible-NIV,2005)
It was ministry on behalf of the reality of the Almighty, a ministry o sole searching, the establishment of the promises made to the fathers. His message is spoken to have been rejected the same way the Lord was rejected. The entire of Peter’s message provides a good example of a correlation between The Lord’s ministry and his disciples. Peter’s message was actually about the circumcision for the truth of the Lord. He was given apostleship of the circumcision. While John’s ministry was widely listened to by Jews, Peter’s was for the Israelis. He ministered to the persecuted and dispersed disciples and the followers of the persecuted and rejected Messiah. It is therefore understood that his ministry is specifically meant to the converted Jews and the Christians who are firm in the faith. (Dulle,2009)
Major themes in revelation and Hebrews
Interpreting the Bible is not easy, most people have tried coming up with several interpretations of most books in the Bible, however, the book of revelation has been given little attention perhaps due to the controversies it speaks about. When carefully studied the following themes will be eminent. (Dulle,2009)
God’s judgment on Evil
The latest chapters of this book talk about the second coming of Jesus Christ. Men will be judged according to their work. God will punish his people for their sins, that Jesus will come back and destroy the forces that fight against him. (Stotesbery,2002)
Establishment of Gods Kingdom
When a new king of God will be established the evil will have to be destroyed first and then eternal life will follow ensued. This theme comes out clearly in the middle chapters of this book. (Stotesbery,2002)
Overcoming of God’s people
We understand that every church was promised something if only they would overcome their circumstances. These promises include eternal life, tree of life; the hidden manner, etc. there is actually a tough moment for God’s people to prove there is also a force to reckon with they should be able to demonstrate this so that they are not overcome by an unseen force. (Stotesbery,2002)
Hebrews
The main themes in this book are:
Christ is Superior and the new covenant being greater than the Moses’ the new covenant is about salvation. (Stotesbery,2002)
Conclusion
This scenario provides a good opportunity for clearly understanding the fundamental differences between the apostolic books more so the Peters’ and John’s ministries. In addition, it explains the major themes in the books of revelation and Hebrews. It’s advisable to understand these books so that no confusion arises.
