The main character of this film is Cole Young, who is a professional fighter. Young’s storyline is enjoyable because out of all the characters in Mortal Kombat, his storyline is the most complete. For example, in this film, Young has a wife and a daughter but no other family members because he is an orphan. Still, he is a descendant of Hanzo Hasashi, another main character, who was a well-known fighter. Therefore, it is enjoyable to see Young’s storyline develop because the viewer can fully understand the motivation of this character, which is wanting to protect his family.

Hanzo Hasashi is a Japanese martial arts specialist who lived during the 17th century. At the beginning of the film, one sees Hasashi and his family living peacefully in the woods. However, after this episode, Hasashi’s character appears several times throughout the movie as a vision that Young has. In the end, Hasashi and Young joining forces to fight Sub Zero, which is entertaining because it shows how two generations join forces to fight evil.

The plausibility of this film’s plot is low because it is based on the idea of a battle between people living on Earth and those from other worlds. Therefore, this is a fictional movie that shows the viewers something that would not happen in real life. The special effects in Mortal Kombat are impressive since this film features a plethora of computer-generated imageries (CGI). For example, some of the characters were created using CGI, such as Goro, who is a giant with four hands. During the battles between the characters, CGI is used to show their special powers. For example, Liu Kang throws flames, and Kano uses a laser. Special effects are important for Mortal Kombat because they are a part of the plot. Overall, Mortal Kombat is an interesting film since it has a good storyline and character development, supported by adequate special effects, which make it entertaining.
