The main character of this film worked in a restaurant as a waiter. One day, he went to this restaurant and ordered a glass of water. He noticed a strong smell of chemicals. It made him realized that all people disregarding their social status, ethnic origin, and gender are negatively affected by chemicals every single day. His wife experienced two miscarriages, and no one could say why it had happened. They started thinking about possible reasons for that and focused on chemicals that were in food, drinks, and other products.

The film describes the development of the chemical industry that began in the middle of the 20th century. Due to the fact that societies became more prosperous, there was a huge demand for new consumer conveniences. People could afford to buy houses and cars, and they could create big families. In order to maintain them, people needed more time. It encouraged manufacturers to design innovative products that met consumer’s expectations. Consequently, a huge number of people got involved in this industry.

However, the fact that disease rates have significantly raised caused much concern. The author highlights that scientists do not know how to explain it. Also, problems related to chronic illnesses in children have become increasingly acute. This issue occurred for the first time in the history of the United States.

Enormous investments in sewage treatment plants aimed to prevent polluted water from getting into a water system. However, the result of this process is not favorable. Nitrogen, which is produced by these plants, is a highly toxic substance. Nonetheless, it is widely used in the agriculture sector across the United States. Its name was changed to bio-solids. Approximately 75 percent of all the toxic sewage sludge goes to farmlands. Also, various chemical fertilizers are used to kill pests living in the soil. These are highly toxic substances, and they get into water and food as well. Although governments are aware of this problem, they cannot overcome it. Politicians believe that the advantages of such measures outweigh drawbacks.

The author concludes that this issue has various complicated aspects. It closely correlates with the national economy and people’s growing needs. He suggests changing the general position and promoting more profound research in this area.

This film raises highly important questions and reveals hidden truths. The author supports his opinion with information obtained from scientists and specialists dealing with this issue. He conducted in-depth research aimed at increasing awareness among the general population. However, this film does not suggest any practical solutions to the problem. Also, it sheds light only on one side of this complex issue. It lacks the opinions of specialists involved in the production of chemicals and from the agriculture sector. Therefore, this movie presents a very informative, though not a complete, description.
