Introduction

Judging by the tone of the music and the pictures emerging on the screen, one can assume that the main idea of the song is to satirize the modern manner of writing. The creators of the video make emphasize the fact that globalization and technology, in particular, have seriously influenced the way people write and type when accessing online services. The use of excessive contractions, numbers instead of letters, and other symbols characterizing informal communication have led to the depreciation of grammar rules. As a result, many people, especially youths, demonstrate poor knowledge of the language they speak and little desire to improve the situation. The authors stress out that such individuals are being mocked online.

Main body

The song is both a parody of the current communication styles and a lesson on how to write posts and messages properly. In the meantime, it is an attempt to copy popular trends in music with the key goal to attract a higher number of supporters. The features of parody are intentionally used to make people draw an analogy with what they usually see or read while searching through social networks and forums. Some of the most frequently met mistakes appear on the screen forcing a viewer to pay attention to spelling. As the lyrics continue to arrive, the creators do not hesitate to use abusive language when assessing the modern trends in writing.

The video takes a bully approach when the emphasis is made on incorrect spelling and the wrong sentence structuring. As it was mentioned earlier, abusive expressions are used to drag the attention of those individuals, whose language is overwhelmed with neologisms and contractions. Particular phrases and word combinations used in the song evoke smiles owing to their smart and harmonious combination. Some remarks force a viewer to laugh and admire the talent and the wits the authors possess. A humorous tone the song is distinguished by turns this video into both the source of critique and the concentration of valuable knowledge.

Regarding the fact that writers make errors in their works, the attitude towards them is biased for a number of reasons. First, some mistakes that these authors make provoke the misunderstanding of an entire statement. The accidental use of homophones, for instance, can lead to forming a different reader’s opinion and erroneous judgments. Second, a mistake made by a writer characterizes him or her as a person lacking education and the required knowledge in general. One cannot trust an individual who demonstrates poor writing skills and ignores the opportunity to proofread a material before submitting or uploading it to a website. Thus, the majority of readers perceive such writers as entirely incompetent.

Conclusion

As for the question of what “good” writing is, each individual has his/her own reflection of the concept. It always matters how skilled a writer is since no textual content can be treated as valid if it contains grammar, syntax, or spelling mistakes. Many readers believe that “good” writing involves using a language, which is easy to comprehend by both a younger audience and elderly people. The video carries the message that when expressing personal judgments, a writer should refuse to use slang and focus more on the conservative style of writing. Although some claim this method to be snobbish, no one denies that referring to grammatically correct language is the only way to demonstrate one’s literacy.
