Animals are kind, communicative, and obedient animals who have been serving people for centuries. There are many breeds that formed historically due to natural genetic changes; some of them were formed artificially with the help of selection and genetic breeding. However, no matter how dogs of specific breeds appeared, it surely goes without saying that every breed has unique qualities and specificity of functions, behavior, and treatment that have to be taken into consideration when choosing the breed to take to one’s home and family. All of them possess individual traits that have to suit the profile and character of the owner for them to create a harmonious and beneficial union and to feel comfortable together – first of all, every dog entering a family or a house has to suit the wishes of owners (it matters whether potential owners are sporty or not, whether they have children or elderly people in the family, etc.). For this reason, much attention has been recently paid to the research in the sphere of individual characteristics of dogs and their capability to broaden the scope of human understanding of the discussed matter.

Thus, it is not surprising that direct similarities in the behavior and character of owners of dogs have been found in the dogs themselves. Every person possessing a certain kind of temper, attitude towards others, treatment of challenges, and individual likes and dislikes can find a suitable dog to compliment him or her. So it may be really interesting to make a supposition on the dog a person would be if he or she were really born a dog.

According to the results of the first test, the one from the Dogster site, it appears that I would be a Labrador Retriever if I were a dog. The results are likely to suit the kind of personality I am because the most common and characteristics traits typical for this breed are devotion to family and friends, intelligence, sparkly temperament, patience, and forgiveness (Labrador Retriever). These traits are really typical for me as I am a rather calm personality and I like to spend time with my family more than in a wide circle of friends and noisy companies. Surely, as a young person, I can barely stand the temptation and refuse to have fun with friends, but in general, I feel that I feel more comfortable in my cozy home place. I guess these traits, even being not fully revealed in the flow of my student years, will further on become stronger and will be characteristic of my personality as soon as I move on in my life stages.

Intelligence is also a trait that is characteristic for me; at least I hope that it is strongly traced in my personality. I like reading and upgrading my knowledge in all possible ways and plan to do this in the future, even after having finished my studies. I like clever people and try to communicate with them as much as possible. In general, I do believe that knowledge is a treasure that everyone has to search for in the process of his or her life. For this reason, I trust the comparison of my character with the one of Labrador Retriever and think that we have much in common, relying on the results of the testing I undertook.

My sparkly temperament does not leave any doubts for me as well as I am a really unexpected, bright and energetic person. This trait is the beloved one of my close people because they never feel bored in my company and can always expect unexpected solutions to the problems, can rely on my judgment as to how to spend the holidays or the weekend. In other words, I often take the leading role in the company of my friends and arrange extraordinary, unusual spare time as well as help them overcome challenges they face in their lifeways in the way no-0one has thought of before.

As for patience and forgiveness, the traits cause some doubts in me, but according to the opinion of my parents and friends I do possess them. According to my perception of myself, I am not patient – I can reveal this feature only in the situation when I surely know how much time I will have to wait for some event to happen or for me to receive a response etc. If I am not certain about results and the time some action will take, I get nervous and cannot control my own feelings. However, I get really patient in a crisis situation if I see that some close people of mine need help and reassurance – if somebody else is nervous, I realize their need to receive help and remain calm.

Forgiveness is another vague trait that is not observed in my character constantly. Personally, I believe that I am unable to forgive people’s faults, and if some close friend hurts me, I try not to communicate with him or her further on. Nevertheless, I can understand another person and realize all circumstances that made him or her act in a particular kind of way. If I can justify these circumstances and I can accept the fact that if I were in the same circumstances, I would act the same way, I can forgive people. But I will never agree to forgive disrespect and mistreatment.

What else unites me with the breed of Labrador Retriever is our love of water (Wilcox 12). I like to swim very much, the sounds of the sea and ocean calm me down and I always long to stay near the water when I have a good opportunity for this. When a child I swam even more than now and my parents often took me to the nearby lake to have fun. This is why I can agree to the similarities I have with the breed of Labrador Retriever.

Other traits that are worth being taken into consideration are friendliness, affection and reliability (Wilcox 7). They may reside in any kind of apartment, starting from the smallest city apartment and finishing with a large country house (Wilcox 9). Their universality and the way they may accommodate to the surroundings distinguish them from many other breeds and make me believe that I suit the breed in many aspects.

Another test I passed, the one at the iVillage site, gave me the results of Cocker Spaniel suiting my character more than other breeds. I would agree more with the previous results about Labrador Retriever as the second test assumes I am submissive and feel the need to please others (Cocker Spaniel). I do not feel these vocations in myself and asked my friends about these traits not trusting my subjectivity. However, they assumed the absence of these traits in me and paid my attention to the fact that their absence often caused my problems with people who were superior in position and whom I had to subdue.

The only traits that suit my profile from the description of Cocker Spaniel and that were mentioned in the results of the test is the absence of enthusiasm concerning sports and the attention I pay to my hair in my daily regime. I like sports and I am fond of going in for sports as often as I have a chance for this. But attending sports activities on a daily basis and making them an important part of my life is rather hard for me under the conditions of my tough studying schedule and other matters I have to think about.

Thus, drawing a conclusion from the facts given out in the present tests, I believe that surely dogs are very much like people in many traits of character they may possess. Every person may have a small friend who will understand him or her and will share their interests. So every person, even having fun with these tests, has to treat the results seriously – nobody knows who we will be in our future lives.
