Introduction
This topic provides an in depth insights on arguments prohibiting the availability of alcohol in corner stores for sale. Alcoholism and drug abuse are conventionally regarded as the prime causes for erosion of societal values. Through them we see a proliferation of vices in our modern societies; domestic violence, high crime rate, high HIV infections especially in the third world countries, high school drop out and many others, even though these problems are visible, the major remedy can only be a complete change of attitude and behavior towards alcohol and drug abuse in our society. Cultural
From the society where we come our behavior is governed by different traditional practices including food taboos. Some communities are traditionally restricted not to take certain specific foods and drinks like alcohol. Stocking alcoholic drinks in corner stores for sale would be a great disservice to them. This is why they highly prohibit alcohol. A good businessman is one who not only offers affordable prices but also values his clients’ cultural background, it’s only ethical when people are given first priority. The artistic representation knows that the pressure of traditions is a sturdy factor of whether or not persons drop quarry to some addiction. (GUILT, CRAVINGS, DEPRESSION, 2009)
For example sale of alcohol is uncommon in the Middle East countries, where getting it is not easy and consuming it also not allowed. Their cultural practice does not allow it and hence making it unpopular. Students engage into underage drinking and thereby become victims of crime. (Land, 2006)
Spiritual
According to the fundamental Christian teachings, the human body is the temple of God’s Holy Spirit. Anything that is perceived to be a threat to the temple is against God’s commandment and therefore should be abolished at all costs. Alcohol once consumed will ignite the devil ship in somebody and hence engage in unholy behavior. Stocking alcohol in corner stores is therefore a stumbling block to Christianity. Economical
Looking at alcoholism from an economical point of view, we believe that human beings are rational consumers who would first of all give priority to their basic wants. Alcohol is not a basic commodity and therefore one can do without it. The main point here is that the more one continues to take alcohol the more he/she becomes addicted to it. We tend to consider the economic effects of alcohol to the environment. Remember that a drunkard is always a heavy spender. Think about it and compare it with your financial status. (Puxley, 2007)
You will agree with me that most people in the world live below the poverty line. It is better that contribution is channeled towards charities where it will go a long way helping the less fortunate; whoever is a drunkard does so blindly. The relevance of this factor to this topic is that, if there are no bars and restaurants from where this commodity is sold it will be difficult for people to think about alcohol and no addiction and dependence. Biological
Under this factor we try to address the specific major biological risks that are the subject of alcoholism to the consumer. A drunkard is likely to suffer from so many ailments including lack of clear vision, body imbalance, cancers and etc. we are also highlighting the problems associated with addiction and dependence. Addiction of alcohol may lead to brain impairment especially the central nervous system. This is generally unhealthy. A drunkard is perpetrator for peace, may not be able to live with people peacefully in a society. Such persons are normally the source of domestic violence which in the recent past has highly been publicized. Considering these casualties it’s therefore important that consumption of alcohol is controlled. This can only be successful if availability of alcohol is restricted especially in the public places like bars and supermarkets, the government should do everything possible in order to avert this practice since it has so many agencies that can be charged with this responsibility. Conclusion
Alcohol should never be available for sale not only in corner stores but also in all public places. We have seen what different cultural backgrounds say about, what risks it exposes to the consumer, what economic problems it causes to us and finally the spiritual challenges. It’s therefore important to prohibit the sale of alcohol in all public places including corner stores and etc. doing this will ensure that even the future generation does not become victims of alcohol and drug abuse, it will be a perpetual culture to be adopted not only by individuals but also the state at large.
