The question has been discussed in most countries by scholars and sectors of governance in attempt to enforce women as they struggle to gain equality as most cultures all over the world had over looked women. According to Gleadle, (86) feminism has been experiencing height of fame as most governments have heed their continued struggle and lobbying for their equality by arguing that they have been discriminated. In the 19th century they were able to gain incredible progress in fight for equality as most policies and legislations were put in place and enforced to elevate women to the status of men especially in political, business/economics and social status.

Abrams, (2001) argued that the radical social and political change in involvement of women in active politics have stepped up their quest for equality as it promoted more women to be influential in political positions which made it possible to enact laws and regulations which promoted women equality. Scholars have been interested to study on how women have influenced the political arena and Dr. Chalus in his research on how women have interacted in Great Britain politics (Chalus, 672). He revealed that women’s involvement in active politics in the late 18th and early 19th century had great impact on social development and improvement of community affairs and more women were involved in positions of leadership thereafter.

However, in my opinion the speedy development and acceptance of women to participate in active politics of Great Britain was because of their consistent and determination to fight for their rights over many years. Although they have been ignored by many administrators their persistent made them be assimilated in position of leadership and once a few of them held influential positions in the government in the 19th century they were able to fight from within the government (Vickery, 93). Hence, their plea was being heard and more of them were included in more positions of leadership as they proved they are equal or even better than their male counterpart in politics.

According to Chaus and Fiona (230) although there have been an increase in women involvement in politics over the years and the activity of women have increased in politics over the years they have not been able to be equal to men. In the mentality of many citizens who most of the time are the one who elect the political leaders have a feeling that women are still inferior than men. According to O’Dowd, (28) this perception has been even with some of the women against their own hence even the women electorates do not elect women therefore it has been much challenging to influence for involvement of more women in the political arena.

Gleadle, (117) argued that most of the women who are involved in politics and succeed are those who are political ambitions and they have property and money so that they would be able to compete with the male counterpart. By being elected in parliament they have equal rights to all of them hence they are able to articulate issues which are affecting women hence making it easy in subsequent elections for many of them to be elected.
