Academics’ and scholars’ researches that demonstrate actual reasons and consequences of populism are not being enlightened in the media, which lets politicians use these media for their own benefit. It became a vicious circle, because politicians do not let real facts to be discussed in media. Populism is a number of activities that politicians use to win the population’s respect by giving them what they want, which is very common nowadays (Muller 6). Besides, people prefer to ignore scientifically proved facts. This is what going on in Europe and the United States of America today – politicians use the most popular media and resources to win respect from the local voters (Robson and McCartan 26). Populism has grown a lot recently, and now becomes an ordinary act, which should be stopped by scholars; otherwise, it will grow even more.
Most of the scholar researches are written in a professional academic style, which is not always clear to regular people that do not know all the professional terms (Cohen et al. 106). In order to solve the problem, all academics have to unite; however, it does not seem to be possible, due to the present circumstances. People have to see and understand what is going on in the government of their countries.
It is necessary to enlighten the masses about the real facts and researches so that people could see all the truth with their own eyes. “The definition of genius is taking the complex and making it simple” (Sarre). Sarre’s article is very useful for understanding the purpose of academic research, especially, in social studies, as it gives examples of professional scientific works and quotes of authorized scholars. Credible academic researches have to be discussed and presented at popular media sources in order to share authentic facts with everyone, who is not involved in a particular sphere. All of the subjects above are to be analyzed in class, and Sarre’s article is a very helpful material for that.
