Introduction
World Vision is an international organization that works to improve the livelihood of people who are faced with poverty and injustice. It was started in 1977 and is working in more than 90 countries in the world and thus it is a world changer. The organization offers its services through education, healthcare, enhancing economic status of people by providing finances, agricultural support, and water and sanitation provision across communities, groups and individual. They work to create a long lasting impact on people because they empower them to rely on themselves by training them on appropriate skills. The organization is based on Christian values.
Mission
To follow the Lord and savior Jesus Christ in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek justice and bear witness to the good news of the kingdom of God.
Goals and Values
World Vision upholds Christian values. They believe in God the father, the Son and Holy Spirit. They are committed to spread the love of Jesus to all people through their service. World vision believes in stewardship and believes what they have does not belong to them but it is meant to help other people who are in need. They also take care of environment and finances. World Vision upholds partnership and their services are not limited by any boundary. It allows participation of different churches to support their work. The organization responds to emergency needs of human kind. The organization is usually ready to offer a helping hand in case of disaster (WorldVision, 2011).
Target Audience of the organization
The targets are communities, children and families. The organization is dedicated to help the poor to get out of poverty. This enables the beneficiaries to enjoy their lives when the suffering is alleviated. They also seek justice for victims of injustice. They encourage people from different backgrounds to form a healthy relationship that appreciates every participant. The poor are treated with respect and this way they live peacefully with each other (WorldVision, 2011).
Strategies the Organization Uses
By providing healthy diets and advising mothers to breastfeed their children. World vision also educates children by empowering local teachers with teaching skills which will helps their students to acquire knowledge that is rewarding in their lives. They focus on quality of education for the children (WorldVision, 2011).
World Vision promotes good health by providing healthcare such as treatment and vaccination. They also help in prevention of diseases.
World Vision helps children who are infected with HIV and AIDS by taking care of them. The organization works with faith organizations to take care of orphans and educating people on prevention of the disease. World vision intervenes where people have no access to clean water by digging wells setting up pumps and constructing toilets and latrines. World vision helps people with loans, financial education and helping them to improve on their agricultural methods so as to improve the harvests (WorldVision, 2011).
Sources of Resources
Through donors, World Vision has been able to respond to about 80 disasters by the year 2010. The contributions include finances, gifts, food, medicine and clothing (Resources, 2011). World Vision has online advertisements that allow people to make donations. Most of the donors are middle class workers (Holtzman, 2009).
Photos Used
World vision photos are of children receiving food, looking hungry, being taught or smiling after help has been offered. Most of the photos are taken from where they have been involved and where they have helped the poor. Adult’s photos are used where they are digging, planting or harvesting. White people are mostly seen helping in their photos.
Conclusion
World Vision is a world changing organization that offers relief to the needy. Through its services, individuals, families and communities have been transformed. They have helped the poor to improve their health status, nutrition, access water and good sanitation, financial status, agricultural skills and education. The organization is funded by donors. They use children’s photos and photos of places where they have helped to advertise their organization.
