Emily Bronte’s novel, Wuthering Heights, has an intricate and complicated plot. There are many overarching narrative threads. Styled as a story within a story, the book details many people’s lives in the Wuthering Heights manor and the Thrushcross Grange. Spanning two generations, it is a tale of love and revenge. One of the many characters in Wuthering Heights is Linton. Son of Heathcliff, the boy, comes to live in Wuthering Heights through a series of complicated events. His mother, Isabella Linton, was once a resident of the Thrushcross Grange. She married Heathcliff, who did not love her.
Heathcliff wants to take revenge on the woman’s brother, Edgar. Obsessed with the idea of vengeance and the thoughts of his true passion – Catherine, he oppresses Isabella. She, in turn, leaves him while pregnant to live in London, free from her husband’s influence. She gives birth to her son Linton there.
