“Beautiful mind” is a film for those people who enjoy the drama and like the movies with Russel Crowe. Speaking about the genre of the movie we can definitely say that this is drama. But except for this the movie “Beautiful Mind” contains the features of a bibliography. To improve that it is the example of bibliography it is necessary to admit that this is a story about the life of John Forbes Nash. He is fond of mathematics and inspires the image of a mathematics genius. He found out the concept of game theory and his theory became the great foundation in the economy. Later he gets the horrible illness, named schizophrenia, and becomes a real paranoiac. The whole movie is based on the events from John Forbes Nash’s life. That is why we can consider this film as a bibliography.
This movie was perfectly directed by Ron Howard and written by Akiva Goldsman. They tried to tell the story according to Nash’s point of view and very often we can not understand whether it is reality or delusion.
All the events which occurred in the film were based on the real story so interesting and that it is very difficult to separate the central one. But in my opinion, the central event that shows the problem of the film is the time of the Cold War when different scientists were against each other in order to be on the side of their own interests.
The main characters of the film are John Forbes Nash (Russel Crowe) and his wife Alicia Larde (Jennifer Connelly). Nash is a professor who is fond of mathematics and founded the concept of game theory that is necessary for the economy. He arrives at Princeton University wearing a stupid suit and bow tie, looking for people with troubled eyes and further getting the terrible illness. He, like all scientists, lives in his own world where he goes to the libraries all the time making the calculations and thinking only about different theories.
The image of John Forbes Nash can be considered as the image of the protagonist in the film, as he is the main character and the whole film is devoted to the life events from Nash’s life. His favorite subject is mathematic.
Howard does not try to create Nash’s image as the man who always explains math theories; he focuses on the emotional sensation of Nash. Except for Nash his wife also can be considered as a protagonist because while she was his wife she was always on his side. But despite the fact that there are the representatives of protagonists, each film must have also antagonists for a well-developed plot. In the case of our film, there are two main protagonists in it Goldsman and Howard. When Nash gets the illness and then tries to recover it he is introduced to the audience in Madrid. The psychiatrists gathered to value Nash’s recovery. Goldsman and Howard as the members of the audience decided to ignore and regret all the words that Nash proclaimed. They were against the cleverness and intellect of the professor who won the Noble Prize for his theory.
As it is a movie about the life of the person there are many events in it that describe the character, moral principles, behavior, and attitude to other people. The most descriptive epithets, in my opinion, that can be used to create the image of the person who is fond of mathematics and gets the horrible illness are clever, well-educated, strange, has a little bit stupid appearance, strong, and with an inherent gift.
Speaking about the costumes and other things it is necessary to say that costumes and make-up help to create the real image for the viewers. It is easier for the viewers to understand the image of the character, because, for example, in our movie Nash appears in a baggy suit and bow tie in order to show that this person likes science, he is very clever.
The movie “Beautiful Mind” is the most interesting film and the director together with stars created the great work with a fascinating plot and well acting of the characters.
