Social work entails service to the community and effectively responding to the needs of the society at large, especially their basic needs such as education, shelter, and food among others. I would like to pursue a degree in social work at this because I am in a position to accommodate the strict nature of the study being fresh from school, young and energetic at the moment. Furthermore, there is an increased need for social workers in contemporary society due to the increased social work awareness around the globe. Moreover, the degree is accepted and recognized in most social work vacancies as compared to diploma and other lower-level tertiary education level qualifications and hence will increase my chances of getting employed as a senior social worker and more attractive to various social work positions in the job market.
I am greatly interested in serving society as a social worker, but major in a family-focused practice with Latinos and community practice concentration. Charity begins at home; therefore, being a Latino American, I have to begin with my community serving as a social worker because I understand the community has grown in the Latino society. Generally, I am interested in a family-focused practice because family is the core of society and the single basic unit hence forming the basis of societal service. Furthermore, I am also interested in community practice because family-focused practice coupled with community practice forms the core of social work. After all, social work entails service to the community which comprises several families. Therefore, I am interested I specializing in families and communities being the target group in social work.
I am interested in obtaining a graduate master’s degree in science, major social work from the University of Texas-Pan American not only as my profession but also as my area of interest and concern. Furthermore, there are several career objectives and goals that I have in place after graduating as a social work professional from the university, for instance, emerging as one of the role models in social work globally. I would like to dedicate my life and time to communal work and act as an example and role model to aspiring social workers. I hope to achieve this by advocating for the family and community service and ensuring that families and communities at large access essential services hence live comfortably. Moreover, the master’s degree in social work will enable me to expand my knowledge in social work and hence effectively work towards well being of society at large.
I have applied to undertake my degree course in social work at the University of Texas-Pan American due to several reasons, for instance, credibility. The University of Texas-Pan American is one of the credible social work institutions that provide a quality education that is not only recognized in the United States but the entire globe. Secondly, the cost of education at the institution is affordable and at the same time, quality education is guaranteed. Furthermore, there are several competent social workers that the institution has produced proving its reliability and credibility in the education it offers. Finally, I believe in the institution as one of the leading social work institutions due to the exposure it offers to its students while on attachment as part of practical work hence preparing students for practical working conditions. Therefore, considering the theoretical and practical experience the institution offers to its students, I choose it as my choice institution were to undertake my master’s degree in social work.
