There are a few issues that should be explored after watching a series of films and researching the topic of ageism. First, there are several themes in the material about how adolescents are positioned in society. Almost all scientific ideas on how society implies the doctrine of youth’s perfection, without exception, promote ageism (ChangingAging, 2018). They are preoccupied with decline and pay little attention to the continuous emergence of new abilities and capabilities (GreggU, 2018). Scholars’ incapacity to adequately understand aging is due to their tunnel vision (GreggU, 2018). Thus, such an attitude leads to different consequences, such as phased retirement, which is one of the implications of such discourse against the elderly. A human resources technology allows full-time employees to work part-time schedules while drawing retirement benefits (GreggU, 2018).

In terms of evidence presented in the films, it is mainly based on numerical sources. According to the Age Discrimination Laws (2018) video, the key “but-for” was reflected by the age of employees in the Gross v. FBL Financial Services report from 2009. In addition, the U-curve of happiness is a result of such practice (TED, 2017). According to this theory, life satisfaction declines around middle age, recovers at about 50, and peaks at the end of life (TED, 2017). The paradox of aging has been coined to describe this baffling phenomenon. This trend severely impacts the people and companies, who lose productive employees sooner than they should (TED, 2017). As a result, such outcomes are detrimental to the social group of the elderly, and there are further data to back up that assertion.

The statistics that support such theories are present in the analyzed videos. An example is a variation in population percentages between 2015 and 2050, which is assumed if no policy changes are made (TED, 2017). Following its contents, it is evident that in the middle of the 21st century, there will be almost two billion people aged over 60. As a result, ageism can lead humanity to economic, social, and cultural chaos in case no changes are applied as soon as possible.
