Introduction

To begin with, it should be emphasized that any business information system is generally adapted to the realities of the business environment and the matters of the requirements, aimed at improving the allover business performance. The fact is that any business system, which exists on a market of information technologies, has to obey the particular rules and principles, aimed at regulating the basic performance of any system. The paper is aimed at analyzing the busyness system of the informational segment. Originally, these systems are IT-based and intended to perform a managerial role in any organization.

Strategic Information Management

The company, which will be analyzed is engaged in the sphere of web search and cataloging of electronic academic information. Originally, this sphere presupposes the existence of an extensive Information System management strategy and support system, aimed at providing the proper functioning of the information search. InfoLinX provides the services of web-based search of the academic literature in the databases of universities all over the world.

It should be emphasized that both the information system and support system are not realized properly. The search engine often appears to be unavailable because of technical problems, and the support system is not available in live mode. The fact is that, if a company wishes to succeed in the sphere of satisfying its consumers, the support system should be aimed at the immediate reaction to the complaints, requirements, or questions of the consumers. Thus, wishing to get the information about strategic information management, the user will see the following message: “The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.” Support service keeps quiet. The only conclusion which should be made based on this information is that the information management system is not properly arranged and implemented, thus, the technical problems and problems with the customer care strategy appear. To numerous researches, the business information system should be based on the principle of attracting and keeping consumers (Laudon and Laudon, 2004), while InfoLinX is unable to perform even its basic assignments.

Criteria for Successful Business System Management

First, there is a strong necessity to emphasize that the main principle of any strategy is that it should coincide with the principles and aims, which company pursues in its overall performance. Then, the rules and principles should correspond with the experience of all the managers and executives, who are engaged in this performance. Otherwise, the issue of qualification improvement or basic training should be thought over, the ad included in the main business performance strategy. (Boddy, Boonstra, Kennedy, 2002)

In the light of this perspective, there is a strong necessity to emphasize that InfoLinx should be regarded as the company with an undefined business strategy, and all the problems of the poor business performance are associated with it. The fact is that the main criteria of successful activity are the existence of a clearly defined strategy and the existence of a business plan, which will define further economic, managerial, and technical development. (Galliers, 2003)

Conclusion

Finally, it should be emphasized that the InfoLinX is the service with a potentially successful aim, nevertheless, the realization of the goal leaves to wish better, as the service can not be featured by reliable providing of the services, and the information system, as well as the support systems, require essential improvement.
