Introduction
Marriage relationships amongst the Asian American women and the European Americans have become increasingly common in the United States. Today, the Asian American community has become a center of desirability since other communities have developed profound interest in them. This essay provides an overview of the Asian American women by examining their marriage relationships.
Asian American Women and Marriage
The conflict between gender systems profoundly affected racial hierarchies amongst the European American men and the Asian American women. Racial discrimination was equally rampant. Women and girls were treated with much disrespect. According to Morris, the protestant missionaries adored marriages and they lavishly praised married young women to the extent of organizing wedding celebrations for them (103).
Civilization of Marriages amongst Asian American Women
Chen and Takeuchi reveal that the Presbyterian missionary ushered the first step towards civilization of the Asian American women (878). According to the authors, Asian Americans have the higher numbers of interracial affairs than any other race. A majority of the Asian American women have married their fellow Asian American partners. Chen and Takeuchi unveil that the number of intermarriages between Asian American and European American, the pan Asian, and other Asian marriages increased from approximately 6-percent in 2007 to 13-percent in 2011 (881).
Conclusion
The public reputation of the Asian Americans underpins the interracial marriages amongst the Asians Americans and other communities. Common traits such as language and tradition compel Asian American women to prefer their fellow partners of the Asian origin because they share general experiences and beliefs.
