The Identification of Instagram’s Type of Services
Instagram, as a social platform, provides multiple sources to its users that vary with the extent of personal preference for account type and profile uses. In other words, the website or mobile app offers the possibility of earning money using Instagram’s tools or interacting with the followers using the social media interface. Instagram allows people to use the platform for blogging and become bloggers to create paid advertisements to make this hobby a job (Delfino & Antonelli, 2022). Furthermore, Instagram allows users to create online shops where they can post photos of their products and sell them via direct messaging (Freedman, 2022). However, the company also provides the option of using the social media app for personal uses, where individuals can share their photos and stories and interact with their friends by messaging or sending pictures.
The Blueprint for the Service Provision
The service process for the creation of personal and business accounts on Instagram is relatively complex and includes the following steps required for the users to complete before using the app or website:
Service Provision for Personal Accounts
- Creating a personal social media account using a user’s email address or telephone number.
- Requesting a password for the profile and the username (which cannot be repeated). To ease the process for the user, possible unique username combinations are provided.
- Following acquaintances from the phone’s contacts or Facebook friends who also have an Instagram page.
- Providing a photo for the account and bio to tell about oneself.
- Sharing videos and photos from the camera roll temporarily or permanently on the profile.
Service Provision for Business Profiles
- Creating a business account using the Facebook page to be able to control the statistics of the social page to analyze how the impressions, followers, and interactions with the content can be boosted.
- Promotion of the posts or stories via purchasing the advertisement from the company to get more audience to follow the profile.
Service Advancements and Analysis of the Components
Therefore, having identified the problems with Instagram’s app and website, it is recommended that the interface be advanced by providing multiple designs to attract more users. As a result, people will have the opportunity to choose a vibrant theme for their accounts, excluding the typical white and black one (for Dark Mode on the phone). Naturally, it is most reasonable to offer this choice after an individual already has one’s account set up. They will be given the opportunity to choose any color using the pipette within the app or choose the ornamental themes from the templates. The most striking development should be the option for the users to add the photos from their camera roll or by directly taking pictures to upload.
Another advancement that should be considered to cater to the needs of the many users is increasing the time limit for video posts. The opportunity to post edited tapes is a helpful tool that can be used not only for the business but for personal accounts as well. Instagram should allow users to upload videos up to 10 minutes in length (instead of 1 minute) (Instagram, 2022). However, if the limit is exceeded, the customer should be asked to upload a shorter video.
The script for the latter function should be: “Please upload the video no longer than 10 minutes.” If the user follows the requirement, the video is then immediately uploaded to the profile. If not, the app or website should show an error with the following caption: “Please choose a shorter video.” Furthermore, to enhance the customer experience, it is advised to offer users the opportunity to edit their videos within the app by cutting them to reach the time limit. In addition, to encourage more people to use the new function, every existing user should be notified about the update to ensure that everyone is familiar with the new advancement of Instagram.
