Young generations in my family have always been tolerant of old members, and my relatives always take care of my grandparents. Life experiences of the older people in the family are valuable, and we try to save the traditions passed from our relatives. However, the world is changing, and misunderstandings might occur between children and their grandparents. Consequently, differences in interests might make young people less conscious of their older generations, and the positive treatment may decrease. According to Cordella and Poiani (2021), these days, some locations of the world are not paying attention to the culture, which was important in the past. This problem causes conflicts between generations as old people used to value cultural aspects and prioritize them in everyday life. Young people of the modern world might find their relatives mentally ill because of the inability to change their minds and follow the world’s progression. However, mental problems were not actively discussed in the past, and some seniors may not believe that they are suffering from one psychological issue. Consequently, the treatment of old generations in societies might not be significant.
Some individuals might compare old family members with those who have psychological issues. Webber and Fendt-Newlin (2017) believe that people with mental illnesses might make people think that they are dangerous and cannot keep their emotions and anger issues. Therefore, the relationship between such individuals is specific and conflicting topics are rarely discussed in these groups of people. Aging language is one of the famous definitions of the description of the changes in the mental condition of the human (Bowman and Lim, 2021). This language is favorable for the younger and older generations as it does not contain offensive meanings. For example, the word ‘elderly’ is a positive alternative to ‘older person.’ This language protects the psychological condition of old people and makes communication less stressful for young individuals. My family always uses words like ‘elder’ and ‘senior’ to show respect to the wiser people and make communication more positive.
