Introduction
Nowadays, much progress has been made in terms of opportunities and equality in many cultures. In the twenty-first century, it is recognized that there are fundamental rights for every individual. Still, many nations resist such changes due to cultural views. While in the U.S., women have access to any kind of education and employment and are protected by law, in Egypt, they have fewer opportunities and are often harassed for choosing to pursue employment and education.
Discussion
In Egypt, women face many obstacles when it comes to accessing education. Many families place more value on their sons’ education than on that of their daughters, which frequently causes women to leave school early. Additionally, cultural norms often dictate that women should prioritize marriage and childbearing over education and career development. In this case, perceptions of gender roles control what is acceptable and unacceptable in the community.
In contrast, the United States has made significant strides in providing educational opportunities for women. Women have equal access to education, and many universities and colleges actively recruit and support female students. In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on encouraging women to pursue degrees in science and other typically male-dominated fields. Therefore, the U.S. culture is more open to education opportunities for everybody.
Furthermore, it is not only education barriers that women face but employment challenges as well. Women are frequently required to stay at home and take care of their children, while many jobs are exclusively allocated to men. Women who work outside the house often experience prejudice and intimidation at work, which can restrict their possibilities for career progression (Barsoum, 2019). In the United States, women have made significant progress in breaking down barriers to employment. Women have equal access to the job market and are protected by laws that prohibit discrimination based on gender.
Conclusion
Hence, in contrast to the United States, where women are legally protected and have access to all forms of education and work, women in Egypt have fewer chances and are sometimes harassed for choosing to pursue these paths. As a result, there is a need for cultural and societal change to support the advancement of women in these areas. By working together, people can create a more equal and just world for women everywhere.
