Introduction

Hoshin Planning is a system that is used in any organizational setting to align and analyze organizational-wise strategic plans in order to organize day-to-day activities in any organization. The Hoshin tree structure can be applied both in the office and in the field. In the case of SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis, the institution has used the hoshin tree-planning model successfully to become one of the leading medical centers in St Louis. The hoshin planning model involves the (PDCA) cycle of performance. As shown below

Planning

This involves the establishment of the core objectives and processes that are necessary to pass on results according to specifications.

Doing

This is the stage where we implement the processes that have been highlighted above.

Checking

This involves monitoring and evaluating the processes and results against objectives and Specifications and then the outcome is reported.

Acting

This involves the application of the actions to the outcome. This is done so that any necessary improvement can be done on time. This involves reviewing all steps (Plan, Do, Check, and Act) and then modifying the process for possible improvement before its next implementation.

Performance measures are quantitative measures that organizations use to know the ideal level of their products, services, in addition to the processes that help to produce or realize them. They are some form of economic tools that helps the end-user manage, understand, and improve the performance level of institutions. They help us to understand whether our customers are satisfied, whether our products are up to date, whether we are meeting our goals individually or collectively, whether there is a need to improve our standards as well as if there is any control in our statistical processes.

There are many performance measures that any company or institution can use especially in the field of quality improvement. In the field of Medicare especially in the case of the SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis, the housing tree model has been used for some relative planning.

In addition, the organization has tried to be patient-centered, safe, effective, efficient, timely, and equitable.

The institution embraced continuous quality improvement as means towards attaining its mission. As a result, SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis has come to be seen as a role model/trailblazer when it comes to the provision of quality healthcare services. Its performance measures have thus not only been implemented on the issue of Medicare alone but also in the workplace.

  3. To make sure decisions are based on facts and not based on our emotions
  4. To show where we need to make improvements in our organizations.

Data collection methods

In the case of the SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis, the data collection methods available for conducting the surveys include questionnaires, phone calls, and General feedbacks among others. The performance measures have had the effect of improving employee productivity, efficiency better customer care as well as the increased use of modern technology on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

The SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis has been one of the leading institutions in the treatment and care of children. Through its many branches and excellent service, it has created a name for itself as a reputable organization in the maintenance of its customer’s safety.
