The movie “Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark” is a cult and is rightfully considered a masterpiece of action-thrillers. More than 40 years have passed since its premiere, and the film industry’s techniques of shooting and acting have changed. However, the legendary “Raiders of the Lost Ark” contains many exciting action scenes and special effects.
Anyone who watched the movie “Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark” should have remembered a rather colorful (for movies of the 1980s) fight on the runway. The German aircraft that appeared in one of the scenes of the Hollywood adventure film “Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark” from 1981 was the invention of the creative team that worked under the direction of director Steven Spielberg. Since the film is essentially a fantasy, its creator wanted to reference the numerous examples of “miracle weapons” developed by the Nazis. Adding futuristic elements, such as this plane, is one of the techniques used in action films to achieve the effect of the unusual and heroic. Therefore, in the 1980s, the cinematographic industry boldly used futuristic elements, which, combined with action scenes, became one of the leading elements of films of this genre.
The characteristics that distinguish action films from other genres make it worth noting the danger of filming. For example, when, after stealing a horse, Jones goes after the convoy and seizes the truck with the Ark. Stunted or not, scary scenes are a hallmark of action movies and look spectacular. In addition, the film has many sharp transitions in video editing. It adds an element of surprise and evokes wonder in the viewers. Another feature of the action film is a clear distinction between good and evil, for example, the mandatory presence of heroes and villains (Yadav, & Vishwakarma, 2020). In the movie “Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark”, it is the famous archaeologist and specialist in occult sciences, Doctor Jones, and the secret agents of Adolf Hitler. Thus, having completely polar personalities, it is possible to achieve the effect of action through their opposition.
The popularity of action-adventure films lies in the unique combination and diversity of expressive means. The drama, combined with unrestrained fights and chases, shows the main character’s efforts to restore justice. Films of this genre often do not have a complex plot, and the main character usually faces evil in its most obvious manifestation.
