Introduction
Curiosity is one of the integral aspects of human nature. People have always tried to investigate new phenomena and obtain new information related to some important processes. The thirst for discovery was one of the main moving forces that conditioned the evolution of society and the appearance of critical thinking. One realizes the fact that to predict the further development of a certain issue, some basic knowledge about this very issue should be available. Additionally, there are several tendencies peculiar to every epoch, and they determine its further growth. Speaking about modern human society and the city, it is vital to admit the prevalence of economic affairs and the great role business plays in the life of common people.
Analysis
In this regard, it is possible to suggest that the evolution of the modern city will be conditioned by the blistering development of the business world and other tendencies related to the sphere of the economy. First, even nowadays we can see the giant buildings which represent various international corporations. However, their further development and growth will obviously impact the image of the city. These companies will play a crucial role in its functioning being the main sponsors of its expansion and providing funds needed to create various facilities. Moreover, the interests of these companies will condition the appearance of the annoying advertisement placed on the new buildings to emphasize the contribution of a certain corporation (Clark and Moir para. 5).
The significant deterioration of the state of the environment could be considered another negative point conditioned by the emerging role of business. The fact is that the development of the business world is often followed by the rapid growth of the industry which should provide the new goods and materials needed to satisfy the increased demands (Norris para. 9). Yet, the lack of space and production needs will promote the erection of numerous plants within the city. It will obviously result in the significant alterations of its image and appearance of numerous environmental and social problems.
Additionally, the appearance of the new plants and factories will introduce a great need for the working force to perform the main activities. However, the lack of living space and the deterioration of the environment will obviously result in the overpopulation of the city. Nowadays, one can admit the tendency towards the creation of numerous skyscrapers which save space and provide shelter to numerous people (“Global Cities of the future: An interactive map” para. 6). Besides, it is possible to predict the further development of the given sort of buildings to provide shelter for all workers. Yet, the given pattern will have a pernicious impact on the citys image as it will be deprived of any greenbelts or other parks.
Nevertheless, the blistering growth of a city and alterations of the traditional role of business will also promote the appearance of a great number of various goods needed to satisfy the new customers demands. The existence of numerous companies implies the great level of rivalry between the major actors. That is why the quality of the new products should promote a certain manufacturer and condition the growth of its popularity.
Altogether, the modern trends in the development of a city and the tempos of the growth of various sectors of the economy help us to predict the further development of society. The city of the future could be characterized by the overwhelming role of giant corporations which will regulate all aspects of its functioning and contribute to the further expansion of the industry.
The rise of digital technologies obviously impacted the traditional behavioral pattern greatly. The modern society could be characterized by the increased role of numerous devices which provide diverse services and make the functioning of an individual easier. Moreover, the growth of the Internet and social networks promoted the introduction of mediated communication which became one of the major concerns of the modern world. Nowadays, a common person spent the bigger part of his/her life on the Internet, communicating with friends, or just looking through various sites (Picard and Wexelblat para. 8). Yet, the given tendency poses a certain threat to society as the traditional face-to-face communication suffers from the influx of technologies.
For these reasons, there is a pessimistic point of view on the future of social interaction. The fact is that real-life communication is the basis for the development of relations. Communicating people understand each other and obtain some additional information essential for the establishment of certain social intercourse. Furthermore, face-to-face communication helps individuals to develop their communicative skills and remain part of the community.
However, resting on the tempos of the evolution of digital devices and the Internet, it is possible to predict the significant deterioration of communicative skills impacted by the strangle of social networks and mediated communication. This threatening tendency is evidenced by the fact that the majority of modern young people prefer to spend time on the Internet (Ogbevoen para. 7).
The lack of communication will obviously result in the significant deterioration of social interaction in the next 10 years. At the moment, we can observe the first signs of the decline of human relationships. Such aspects as friendship and partnership become less significant as people prefer to use mediated means of communication to exchange thoughts and emotions. That is why it is possible to predict the creation of the global social network that will include all users of the Internet. The creation of this giant virtual space will result in the reconsideration of the approach towards the traditional means of communication and decrease of their significance.
Furthermore, the efficient functioning of the giant social network will help people to create new relations and find new partners. Yet, these virtual relations might become the main trend of the future social intercourse as people will not have the need for face-to-face communication. The establishment of this sort of relations will also contribute to the decrease of the importance of social status (Ellison, Lampe, and Steinfield para. 9) as the Internet provides equal possibilities for everyone. It could be considered the dangerous tendency as the absence of a certain hierarchy might lead to anarchy and the absence of real power.
Conclusion
Altogether, the overwhelming strangle of digital technologies, and the rise of the Internet could be taken as the controversial points which give rise to a number of concerns related to the future of social interaction. The mediated means of communication will result in a decrease in the importance of real communication and the Internet will become the only place where people will be able to meet each other and chat. The given pessimistic perspective is evidenced by numerous modern tendencies related to social intercourse. The next generation might be deprived of the real emotions, preferring to spend their free time using the global social network.
