Introduction
The article “Emotional Intelligence at the Workplace” by Manavi Pathak, published in Human Capital magazine, talks about the importance of developing emotional intelligence (EI) skills in the new working life. The work scenario in the modern world is changing, and the new organization of the workspace requires not only professionalism but also EI skills to organize a successful operational process.
Discussion
EI does not manifest itself as IQ, it is a part of behavior that includes self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Empathy is the most easily recognized and, at the same time, the most important part of EI, without which modern effective leadership is impossible. The culminating component of EI is social skills, which are also integral to the new workflow, but their development requires a lot of effort and motivation. The workplace is becoming more complex, requiring a variety of tasks, skill sets, and creativity, and EI is essential to successful organizational functioning (Pathak, 2013, 54-55).
The process of compiling the content of the article was carried out through the technique of thoughtful reading, highlighting the most important parts of the text, and reflecting during the process of reading. The most successful part for me was thoughtful reading, due to which the thesis proposals were drawn up, most capably conveying the essence of the story. This summary is improved as this time I took the time to thoughtfully re-read the text and make up questions for better understanding. Reflection on emotions and catching the general thought in the process are important additions to the analysis and summarizing. Critical reading, summarizing, and quoting skills are important in the workplace.
Conclusion
Critical reading helps understand the essence of the text faster and separates truthful statements from dubious ones. Summarizing is important for quickly working with any number of sources and forming an informed opinion. Finally, quoting skills are essential to prevent plagiarism and write evidence-based texts.
