This presentation is titled Motivation and Rewards on Performance. This was based on a case study on Food Spectrum, a manufacturer of functional food ingredients using traditional Australian ingredients. A brief overview of this family-owned enterprise was given, along with the problems it faces relating to human resources. After that, the presentation focused on theories of motivation and performance management and provided recommendations to the company for key improvement areas such as feedback, financial rewards, and commitment to the organization among others.

It gives relevant and concise definitions of important concepts such as motivation is defined as the way individual behavior is aroused, maintained, and channeled to achieve a goal. Also, the importance of motivated employees is subsequently backed by research that ensures authenticity. After that, the concepts of performance management and performance rewards management are explained and the importance of these concepts in an organization’s human resource framework is also provided in detail. The types of research conducted and their findings are also given in the presentation to back up the theoretical material provided before. The presentation backs up its theoretical knowledge with research more than once. Since the entire presentation is based on a case study and ways to solve the problems being faced by an enterprise, all theory presented is verified via research. It cites two journal articles on organizational commitment while enumerating the three components of commitment in its section on factors that contribute to motivation. It also informs the audience about the tools used in previous research such as observations, surveys, and interviews and the related findings from this research, which it uses as the basis for the recommendations it gives in the following section. It also cites statistical research when discussing the usefulness of financial rewards.

Quality/Exciting/Time

This was not a very long presentation and since the information contained in it was concise, relevant, and connected to the following point, it was easy to pay attention to and evoked audience interest. The quality could have been improved upon, as slides were a little unbalanced in terms of information content and font: some had a lot of information on them, while others only had 2 to 3 points. The body language of the presenters was casual yet professional at the same time and helped retain audience interest and engagement in the presentation.

Knowledge

There was a lot of relevant knowledge brought to the forefront through this presentation and the result reflected a clear thought process that had gone into the crafting of the presentation. There was a clear information flow which made it easier to pay attention to it and the audience did not lose interest in the presentation. The references were few but were of good quality. It was a well-developed and well-articulated presentation.
