Introduction
Many different topics related to emergency preparedness have been studied and explored during this course. From my perspective, Emergency and Crisis Management Entity Assessment and Recommendation, our last assignment, effectively embodies this curriculum’s key points. Although most of this report consists of previously completed elements, such as a stress management memo or a preparedness plan review, combining them into a single document feels like a completely different job. While the previous assignments considered only certain aspects of the organization’s readiness, this assignment required students to fully assess the entire picture as a professional. It was necessary to view almost all the moments the company may face: from natural disasters to terrorist attacks, and each event had to be analyzed from beginning to end.
Discussion
From my point of view, such work is of great importance for future specialist and their practice. This course provided a massive amount of essential and relevant information and demonstrated the principles of its application in a professional environment. In this context, it seems to me that the opportunity to hone professional skills is significant. Therefore, I consider my choice of organization for analysis in the form of the government of Massachusetts to be highly beneficial. Such a decision allowed me to see how a large-scale emergency response system could be implemented. In addition, an examination of the baselines developed for safety across the state has identified the fundamental principles upon which a robust response system must be built (Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, 2019). Thus, within the framework of the report under discussion, I had a lot of information and history, which gave me a vast space to improve my skills.
However, the people around me, such as my classmates and the instructor, played an essential role in this course. From this point of view, this course was somewhat unique, combining the smallest class of 7 people and an enormous amount of information to assimilate. Such a contradiction, however, made the participation of each person in this class much more meaningful. We had to go through this challenging and information-packed course together, and such a close environment made this process somewhat easier. Although I already knew some of the students before and even worked with some of them, the joint work, the constant exchange of feedback, and the general movement towards the goal made us even closer.
In this context, I would like to note a few vital details from this course. First, my current success would not be possible without constant quality feedback. This approach significantly benefits the entire system since it dramatically encourages student interaction. However, without the active and high-quality participation of the students themselves, the current successes would be impossible. For example, I had an excellent opportunity to look at high-quality memo writing samples, adopting my comrades’ experience and sharing my experience with them. Most of the work I have seen has allowed me to learn something useful for myself, and I hope my texts have served the same purpose for someone else.
Conclusion
Thus, in conclusion, I want to thank all my peers for their high professionalism, support during work, and joint self-improvement. Additionally, it seems to me that our professor should also be awarded the highest praise since the manner of presenting the material in this course significantly contributed to its successful assimilation. I hope that such positive interactions between students and instructors will continue in other classes, and we will have the opportunity to work together again.
