However, not everyone uses computers for educational purposes, some abuse them for sexual amusement. A place to grow your knowledge and wind down is every student’s favorite activity to do as libraries can aid is relieving stress, as the computers are used to look up various types of sources and websites; it shouldn’t be used to aid in sexual excitement that distracts others from their studies, children also use the computers therefore then filters will aid in protection as watching pornography can cause mental issues as they grow and the filters will help them to stay on appropriate sources, also if a student or perhaps someone is watching the pornography on the computers and engage in sexual touch this can cause huge discomfort in others surrounds them therefore the filters will ensure that everyone will only be allowed to use the computers for educational purpose not for sexual desires.

Over the years, there have been many debates on whether or not public libraries should install filters onto computers to protect for pornographic use. Libraries have been around for over 5,000 years, the first computer to be installed into a library was over 40 years ago. This debate has sparked for many years and has caused many issues around the world due to its many opinions. These protection filters that many libraries have aid in protecting minors from vulgar websites and materials that can affect the mind negatively at an early age. It will also influence the use of more educational materials and sources for not only children’s education but also adults and teens’ education. Not only do the filters protect inappropriate things from being shown, but it also protects from spam messages that can interrupt someone’s learning.

Pornography is a major distraction to the brain, watching pornographic images and or videos from a youthful age can damage the human mind tremendously. In the same way as addictive substances, porn is a hyper stimulator that causes unnatural elevated levels of dopamine to be secreted, damaging the dopamine system. As a result, the mind becomes unresponsive to natural sources of happiness. According to the source, “heavy porn users have found that viewing pornography activities the same reward centers in the brain that are stimulated when addicts see a drug of choice” (Glazer 30). This study shows that compulsive porn use can create mental health issues; additionally, mental health conditions can cause emotional discomfort, which can make an individual feen for the comfort as if it is a type of addictive drugs that they get the huge dopamine release from watching the various pornographic scenes. This can lead to one’s emotions changing in a negative manner, leading to mood swings, high irritation, and many more mental issues and this can even affect the relationships built with people due to these mood changes. Not only does it damage your mentality, it can also damage your learning. It affects an individual’s motivation to get their studies done, leads to risky behaviors, and the mood to miss school assignments or even classes. The source states, “watching porn takes up so much time, energy, and attention that everything else can take a backseat” (Vandenbosch 2). Grades are especially important to everyone that goes to school, and no one likes when they have a bad grade, but porn is a factor to bad grades, and it should be limited so that these issues don’t become bigger than they already are.

These protection filters that multiple libraries are on board with installing will ensure safety for everyone who plans to use the computer for actual educational purposes. Filtering can prevent users from visiting websites that execute malicious code on their computers. Even on a small scale, web filtering allows companies to block inconvenient websites during working hours, which is not suitable for the environment. The source states, “More than 40 percent of children ages 10-17 have been exposed to online porn, often accidentally” (Glazer 13). By using internet filters, libraries can take some control over the exposure of children to pornography. Pornography can be deliberately accessed by kids, even when they are searching for the content themselves. According to the source, “About 30 million children in this country have access to the Internet, and about 25 percent of them are exposed to some type of unwanted or inappropriate online content” (Institute of Medicine 8). These filters will also aid in comforabliity as if one who is watching the sexual content decides to engage in sexual touch with themselves, it leading to discomfort and disgust from others in the surrounding area and this can cause a huge problem to someone learning. A web filtering program can be used in conjunction with web monitoring software to watch someone’s online activity. These elements can be combined to supply a strong line of defense against viruses, data breaches, and a loss of income due to reduced productivity. You can set blocking rules based on keywords or URLs.

An unsecured connection to the internet may lead to inappropriate, malicious, or harmful content. These protect children from something they aren’t ready for while keeping their mind young and adventurous. The privacy of others will not be destroyed by someones sexual excitement from watching the graphics while they are trying to learn and read. It will keep them from being distracted by something that isnt even important like grades are and it will also help keep the mentality of other in the right path, while also keeping the dopamine levels at a proper level.
