Racism and discrimination in relation to other people might be developed from early childhood, and it is crucial to understand how young people are affected by the issue to decrease the rising trend. Lingras (2021) explained the issue in the Journal of Health Service Psychology and showed how adults talk to children and explain the problem of racism. Consequently, if the topic of racism and discrimination is open and discussed often, children may grow up more tolerant of people who are not similar to them. Such organizations as the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) provide mental support to families suffering from aggressive racism.
Talks aimed to increase the awareness of children of different social backgrounds, genders, and skin colors are crucial for both kids and teenagers. Young people can be more affected by the pressure from surrounding society, and abuse might negatively influence mental health (Trent et al., 2019). The impact of racism is widely studied by the medical branch called pediatrics. This area is expanding every year as the modern generation of children grows in diversity, including cultural, ethnic, and social differences (Trent et al., 2019). The primary responsibility of pediatrics is to examine the consequences of racism and discrimination on kids and how mental health is affected by these factors. Trent et al. (2019) propose that it is important for parents to understand how racism is developed. The main locations of the issue occurrence are educational buildings, courts, and other governmental organizations. By understanding the sources of the racism problem, parents may protect their children from aggression from peers or other adults.
In conclusion, children mention the first racist actions from others in early childhood, and black people mention more discrimination attempts. Many parents believe that they are responsible for the kids’ education regarding the relationship to aggressive racism that can occur at schools and other governmental locations. Consequently, professionals in the pediatric area of medicine have produced many guidelines that can help parents and their children stay away from discrimination and defend their rights.
