Introduction
Different animals live in the sea or large waters but whales have been recorded to be the largest in the world. Whales have a very interesting way of living as compared to many other living creatures; they are mammals that have adapted to living in large waters, especially oceans and seas. There are whales in the red sea though most of them are said to be originating from oceans. It is believed that whales once lived in dryland hence they are termed land-living animals because they are believed to originate from land-living animals. (Whale-world.com, n.pag.)
Characteristics
Red sea whales grow in different sizes; some can grow to be very large 100 feet in length while others can be as small as 5 feet in length. It shows that sea whales are different in their sizes, for instance; blue whales are recorded to be the largest. Other whales their sizes range between 94 feet to 100 feet. On the other hand, dwarf sperm whales are among the smallest whales and they range between 10 feet and 8.5 feet. It shows that different types of whales have different sizes. There are two types of whales i.e. toothed whales and baleen whales. Toothed whales have teeth while baleen whales have no teeth. Some of the whales are dangerous, for instance, there are whales with teeth. Whales with teeth kill others to get food; they prove to be dangerous since they can also kill human beings for food. These whales in most cases move in groups hence being able to attack even large animals than them. Whales with teeth include sperm whales, pilot whales, and killer whales. There are baleen whales that do not have teeth hence they are not dangerous to humans. (Whale-world.com, n.pag.)
Sea whales just like many other mammals have very strong social ties; they stay together most of the time. These ties are evident between a mother and calf whereby they take good care of the calf moving from one place to the other together. This is similar to what other mammals living in dryland do with their young ones. Whales with teeth move in big social groups while the ones without teeth move alone or in small groups. Sea whales are said to be acrobatic, because of their great movements whereby they can jump very high out of the water and go down with an enormous splash of water. They also perform certain activities and movements which enable them to communicate with each other. They also produce certain sounds as a means of communication with each other. Some whales do not jump out of the water, but they just lift their heads out of the water either to look for any danger which may be approaching and also to get fresh air out of water. During the reproduction of sea whales, they move to cold waters whereby they stay for at least six months, the reason being that cold water is said to contain plankton. After six months they move to warm waters. The warm waters enable them to breed and bear young ones. The gestation period for sea whales is among the longest and is between 9 and 18 months, they breed once in a period between 1and 3 years. (Whale Facts and Information, n.pag.)
Conclusion
Red sea whales are rare because they originate from oceans most of them do not stay in the red sea for long they move from one place to the other. Red sea whales are very nutritious and also some of their parts are believed to be medication for certain problems. (Whale Facts and Information, n.pag.)
