Is Change in Education Needed
Educational systems need reforms of various kinds depending on the specific needs of the people that the system is supporting. Research has shown that schools and posts secondary institution have never addressed the needs of the people. This means that the curriculum has been superficial leading to uncoordinated policies in education sector. Historical, cultural and demographic differences have played a major draw back in policy making. In most cases, the curriculum has fallen on rocks and instead favored the constitution that always has political influence (Gerstner, V. L. 2003).
A change is required in the education system so as to allow the learners to be attached to learning. History shows that the educational system has never allowed learners an opportunity to study what they want. This has been due lack of practical context in education. In most cases the curriculum focuses on theoretical aspects. Second is a high grade in enrolment which has made learning to shift from understanding to studying for examination (Peril, G. (2004). After exams the learners always remain slate. High workload on the instruction has denied individual attention. Education sectors has demoralized her workers through poor pays despite higher work load
Changes the Government Has Introduced Into the Educations System
The government has over the past 5 years tried to create a new conducive work environment for the educationalists, teachers and learners. This measure has involved the use of test scores to gauge the performance of teachers, stakeholders and students (Gerstner, V. L. 2003). Through this the government has encouraged involvement in leadership so as to create post-reform where all members are managers.
In US there has been a campaign to boast accountability and achievement among the students. The quality of teachers have been strengthened this making security of the learning process to be increased the government has also addressed the authenticity of the learners by making them have large scope to choose schools since the expansion of schools. Their government has also passed a bill on educational act that has helped curb the then exam focused learning to knowledge based education. Students who fail have a chance to try again (Gary, L. A. 2006). Failing schools are therefore advice to shut down or be revised by providing support and resources to teachers and institutions.
Government has also initiated bills that allow head teachers to have freedom in adopting the best systems of instructions, planning, running and inspection in schools. Certain government systems like US have adopted a child benefit kitty to encourage training. Inspection has been proposed to be short so as to release schools of pressure. The government has also initiated reforms that allow institutions to receive subside from local authorities for better planning. Adoption of independent statuary boards in higher institution are currently headed by individual with highest ability and integrity. Schools are allowed to pool resources from locally available and cheep sites for physical and technical learning.
Are Schools Taking on Board These Ideas and Most Importantly Do They Believe It’s Having a Positive Impact?
Most schools are initiating these reforms though challenges of political, cultural and religious influence are still being felt (Gary, L. A. 2006). The ministry of education for instance has delinked itself from being an obstacle. Head teachers do the day to day running of schools while the government acts as a facilitator. Schools have adopted competitive and responsive characters in examination system to create autonomy in the various departments. Students can also enroll for examination in one school but take there studies else where. This private arrangement has opened doors for students who did not have a chance to perform well increasing accessibility of education.
Curriculum system has focused on general education allowing schools to train learners not for job but for adding value to the society (Gerstner, V. L. 2003). Schools have also encouraged the practical experiments to enrich the scientific quality in education sector. Most schools have established explicit linkages with other institution so as to encourage scientific development. Schools have also adopted the use of cost effective and second hand resources to supplement books, while internet is used in technology.
Direction Are Schools Now Heading In
Due to the adoption of the various educational reforms schools have gained autonomy in management (Peril, G. 2004). If is believed that one experiences the challenges good solutions can never be reached by adopting proposals from other individuals with better efforts on resource mobilization by the school head teachers schools make use of cheap but effective learning to be attached to learning since it is applicable in the society learning. Schools have also adopted better ways to handle challenges facing the learning process since they are allowed freedom in decision making.
