Motorola Company management strategy

According to the manager, the company has applied the six sigma business management strategy. The strategy was initiated by Mr. Bill Smith in this company in 1986. this strategy has ensured that the company can achieve the stable result in all areas. It has also ensured that the manufacturing and other related business procedures have qualities that can be controlled, measured, analyzed, and improved. It also advocates for cooperation in the entire organization, especially from the top-level management.

Motorola, Inc has used the six sigma strategy as the trademark. The Motorola Company has been able to achieve quality management in several ways. The top-level management has been meeting to evaluate the quality control initiatives of the organization. They also involve all the other levels of management for example the employees can participate through the management program that is designed for this purpose. There is also the practice of motivating the employees due to their hard work. One of its expenditures is on employee training on quality matters. The company uses the system theory of management to achieve its improved performance.

Environmental concern

According to the manager the Motorola Company has been at the forefront to ensure that its product and operations are environmentally friendly. For example, it has tried to reduce the energy use by its product to enhance energy conservation. They have also organized various charitable organizations in society. An example of this is organizing donations to fund innovations in technology and engineering. In terms of ethics, this company has come up with a measure to ensure that their products are faulty-free. They also encourage and motivate their employees ensuring that they are well paid and on time. The company is also found in seventy-six countries. They believe that there is a need for the companies to invest in the countries they trade-in and not considering them as a cheap source of labor.

The responsibilities of the manager

In terms of leadership the manager was keen to note that courage is essential, also taking the risk in whatever one is doing is also very important. One also needs to have a passion for the job that he is undertaking this encourages confidence in whatever is being done. The ability to respond fast to urgent matters is also very important. These are among many leadership skills that one needs to possess as the CEO of the company. As a manager, you need always to put everything on track and be result-oriented. One of the major policies used by the manager is to measure performance using the amount of output and not input.

There is also the need to be focused like the management of this company believes that they have more couple of years of hard work to get to be a world-class company. They are also very innovative and always thinking of how to come up with a new product to satisfy the customer needs. That is why the Motorola Company always comes up with new features in their phones. The other very important quality as noted during the interview is that as a leader one needs to keep track of what is happening in the industry. He is also supposed to be able to monitor the competition in the industry and ensure that he can keep the pace of the competitors.

The manager also discussed various challenges that he faces in the day-to-day running of the company. The major challenge that he highlighted was to try and keep them up with the changing technology due to current evolving innovation. Also running the company has been a problem, in terms of dealing with people of different cultures and the changes that are involved. The other challenge that is faced is trying to get things moving faster than they are today.

He was quick to mention that the mobile industry is facing a lot of competition and therefore it is not easy to come up with ways to be able to keep up with this competition. He believes that there is a lot that needs to be done to overcome these challenges. To overcome these challenges he has created good communication techniques among the employees and also motivates the hard-working ones. Conflict in the company is well managed and in case of crisis, there is always a way of sorting it out.

The manager also stated that they have applied various tools in planning and also ensure that there is prior planning to manage the crisis. The company’s mission is to be the leading world mobile company and to provide a quality product. They always ensure that they leave room for change to accommodate any upcoming change. The Motorola Company is managed by a CEO as the overall manager of the company. There is a board of directors governed by the manager. In every country, there is a manager who controls the operation. The management is divided into the area of operation. This has enabled the company to improve its performance. The current CEO of the company is Ed Zander.

Conclusion

Therefore the good performance of this company can be attributed to the effort of the management. Their good quality of leadership has contributed to the success of the company. This company can be referred to as a world-class company due to its outstanding product. As the manager indicated it is one of the best mobile companies in the industry.
