Introduction

A child’s way of playing, learning, and moving may inform about their developmental progress. However, there are some cases when children are incapable of achieving those goals for some reason. Thus, certain policies need to be included to assist with those concerning problems. The following text will review a 3-year-old child’s average developmental achievements, issues, and the policies that can help with overcoming the latter.

Developmental Milestones in Children

To understand developmental issues, one must first review the goals that need to be achieved by a child at a certain age. Achievements that children of a certain age can do are referred to as developmental milestones (CDC, 2022). Some of the achievements include: putting on certain clothing items, saying their first name when they are asked, and asking “wh-” questions. These actions depict the capabilities of an average three-year-old child.

However, not every child is successful at those actions, and at times, these failures are not serious. However, it is best to be able to identify said delays and get early treatment (WebMD, 2022). The causes can be attributed to physical issues, such as hearing loss, learning disabilities and developmental disorders. In this case, a doctor is to be notified immediately, so that the child could get help.

One of the opportunities to combat developmental issues involves enrolling a child in an inclusive early education program. For example, 3-K gives the chance to choose various seat types and may be recommended in educational facilities (Growing Up NYC, 2022). This program accepts children with learning disabilities, which is quite a valuable opportunity for children with developmental issues. Thus, offsprings may have all of their struggles and disabilities considered.

Conclusion

In conclusion, knowing about developmental milestones is crucial for assessing a child’s progress. Some of those milestones for three-year-olds include being able to ask “why” questions, putting on certain clothing items, and saying their name when asked. Noticing a child’s developmental issues is important for timely care. However, some may be caused by a learning disability or hearing loss. Fortunately, certain policies similar to 3-K exist to help children with those struggles. This program is inclusive for children with learning disabilities, making it rather valuable for kids with developmental problems.
