The article provides insight into the work of an academic ghostwriter who used to write essays for college students. The author relays how he acquired this job and what challenges he faced. A substantial part of the writing it devoted to the discussion of the ethics behind writing essays for students. The main message of the article is that academic ghostwriting is a nuanced job, the essence of which is not limited to cheating.

The author explains that the belief that the primary audience of essay-writing agencies is students who prefer cheating is a stereotype. Even though there were children of wealthy families who ordered essays, the majority of customers were people who needed help (I signed up to write college essays, 2021). Many of them experienced objective life difficulties, which impeded their academic performance and forced them to pay for student homework.

On the one hand, the author of the article promotes a job, which has an adversarial effect on society. After all, students who resort to ghostwriters’ services do not enhance their own knowledge or hone their skills. By referring tasks to other people, they cheat, thus defeating the entire purpose of education. From this viewpoint, academic ghostwriting is unethical since it undermines real educational progress.

To conclude, life presents challenges, which are more important than academic performance in college. Not every student has equal conditions for studying, with many struggling to receive an education due to numerous complications in employment, health, and family relations. Sometimes, helping people with college tasks they have no time or opportunity to complete is a more ethical option. Therefore, I agree with the author’s opinion that academic ghostwriting is too nuanced to be dismissed as simple cheating.
