Acoustic and electric recording methods are fundamentally different. Undoubtedly, the transition from the acoustic to the electric one was a revolution in music. This allowed people to get better quality music “products.” Consequently, they were able to enjoy more listening pleasure and notice more details in musical works. Thus, the sales increased, and musicians knew that their music is indeed demanded. This contributed to the development of the music industry and music science in general (Barnett, 2020). At the moment, it develops even faster; however, one of the crucial factor for this development was the transition from the acoustic to the electric recording. The purpose of this paper is to compare the differences in sounding of acoustic and electric recordings.

The electric recording has greatly influenced the “feel” of music. The sound seems more voluminous and full, and the rhythm becomes more noticeable and distinct. Each instrument can be heard much easier. From the listener’s point of view, the location’s perception concerning the musicians is changing. If acoustic recordings immerse listeners deep into the orchestra, then electric ones, on the contrary, place the listeners right in front of it, in the first rows. This creates a complete musical experience, including all the instruments. In addition, the overall sound quality has improved significantly, so the listening experience became better too.

The electric recording changed the tone colors in the band. The pieces recorded in this way become lighter and brighter. They have more positive emotions, inspiration, and joy. Undoubtedly, the dances for both examples would be different. In the case of acoustic recording, they would be calm and measured, delicate, tactful, and perhaps even constrained. They would be subject to the strict morals of the past. Electric recording, on the other hand, gives dancers more freedom and liberation. Dancing to this kind of music is more fun, allowing people to trust each other and have a more enjoyable dance experience. This is one of the important factors for society’s development: music can help people communicate and build relationships.

Some stringed instruments were replaced in later versions of the pieces. This is due to the more pleasant sound and the relevance of their use. Among the most notable instruments are wind instruments. Moreover, in an electric recording, they are heard much better than in an acoustic one. In addition, significant differences can be noted in the sound in general: it has become more spacious and open. It is also likely that it has become much easier for artists to perform works from their usual places than sitting around a recording device. They have an opportunity to freely move their hands and thus their performance is much better. Consequently, the recorded work seems more lively and free. It sounds more enjoyable for the listeners.

Undoubtedly, new ways of recording music are opening up new horizons in music. This increases the demand for music industry products and attracts new listeners and musicians. This has a positive effect on public sentiment, music education, and technology development. Listeners always strive to find something new; young musicians can listen to the professionals using these recordings; the technologies used in music can also help other industries. That is why the transition from acoustic to the electric recording of music is important for the past and present. Without it, people would not fully enjoy the music, and recording it would require hard work and high costs.
