Introduction
Here is an aesthetic project which permits the viewer or reader to enjoy a work of art and understand its technical elements and also evaluates aesthetic beauty. The project is based on theatrical performance and it provides both visual and audible experiences to the viewer. The project is based on a short story that discussed the death of a soldier. The visual performance consumes a complete script and characters. A well-equipped stage and other background settings constitute aesthetic beauty. Here the characters recreate different scenes in the story on the stage with the help of dialogues and music. It uses various literary techniques such as expressionism, irony, foreshadowing, and flashback.

FDE IN EXT. Inner hall of a large house.
[The program begins with a light background score and the room is dark and three or more candles show the paintings from the wall]
Alice is sitting near the dead body, facing the audience. The background is the faded wall]
A group of women is sitting on the opposite side and the background is a faded wall- ‘you should cry, and tries to relief’ by the women.
Music coming from the room then becomes the background. Alice looking long distance and the background is a faded wall.’ I have no pain, then why should I cry’ by Alice.
Women come forward the stage and say ‘your husband killed in the battle. You should cry otherwise your heart will break’
[Alice is sitting in a motionless state. The background is the faded wall]
[A young girl comes forward the stage looking at the dead body] she says; he was a courageous man, he killed our enemies. And his soul will reach heaven’. Generals, Ministers, and Officers praise his courageous and kind behavior. [Then the background changes a group of soldiers came forward the stage and they attack a young soldier. After a long time fight the young soldier falls down] He cries’ My son…..Alice….My….’
[His body lies without motion and soldiers from other armies look the dead body and make comments]
‘He was a real soldier; a real patriot and a real man’
[Alice still continues the same position. The background is the same faded wall]
[Another girl comes to the dead body and removes the covering cloth. The background score is a battle scene] the girl says,’ he was a lion in the battlefield, his mind is filled with love and kindness
[Women try to persuade her to weep but Alice is sitting like a statue without an emotional vibration]
Maidens commemorate the dead soldier through singing about his childhood and about his good qualities]
Alice comments; I have no husband, I have no family; I am the happiest person in the world come live with me.’
[Old women come forward the stage and take the small baby and sit near Alice and the baby looks at the face of Alice] The boy cries. ‘Mama…look at me, where is the dad?
[Alice slowly moves and comes forward to the audience and calls her son] dear son……
[The baby cries loudly the background is the faded wall and lamenting women]
The baby, ‘Mamma … calls him, [the baby cries loudly]
[Alice takes her son in a frantic mood and kissed him then she cries with extreme pain]
A commentary about the project
The program is a visual presentation based on a short story. The story is split into different scenes. Various literary techniques help the viewer or reader to enjoy the program. Fantasy and imagination play a vital role in this skit. Music is an essential factor and through the background, the score viewer can receive the feelings of horror and tension in the war scenes. Presentation of different characters in this stage program requires a number of aesthetic elements. One can see the fact that the characters of Alice, the dead soldier, maidens, and the young baby can make emotional vibrations to the mind of the audience. The entire program moves through the central character Alice. The stage program provides various aesthetic elements such as imagination, music, and choreography. The script is the most significant factor in this project and it recreates the scenes on the stage. The viewer can notice the order of events, stage settings, character presentation, and other theatrical features. Flashback scenes help the audience to acquire emotional vibration and it produces a complete aesthetic experience. The web article entitled All American: Glossary of Literary Terms mentions that; “A flashback is a narrative technique that allows a writer to present past events during current events, in order to provide background for the current narration” (All American: Glossary of literary terms, n.d., para.24).
Alice’s memories play a vital role in the performance of an aesthetic program. The viewer can notice the order of events, stage settings, character presentation, and other theatrical features through flashback scenes.
